Hi I'm Misty

I am a mother, a middle school math teacher, a cop's wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of four great children. 3 girls and 1 boy. I have been blessed to be the mother of twins. I teach 7th and 8th grade Mathematics in an inner city school. I am a Sun Devil! I graduated from ASU in 06 with my BA in Elementary Education and in 08 I graduated with an Advanced Master Degree in Elementary Education. Besides teaching math, I love crafts. I feel it is my therapy for my crazy and busy life. During my summer, you can find me any Friday at my favorite scrapbook store crafting away! I am a follower of any crafting blog! I love it! I am a football and cheer mom, which makes my life a little extra exciting. My kids keep me busy with sports, scouts, and church activities. I have the honor of being a police officer's wife, which also adds to the excitement and busy life of a mother. Being a cop's wife can have its challenges, but we manage as a family to get through those tough times. I love visiting my family during the summer in Pittsburg, Kansas. One of my most favorite places is Disneyland! I love being me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when i was 12 years old. My father was raised Mormon, but fell away from the church when he was a teenager after his parents got a divorce. Years later, my Aunt gave me a Book of Mormon. I always knew that the LDS church was my father's faith, so I always felt some connection to it when I saw a commercial or a church building. Missionaries came to our door one summer day from a referral they received. My father always felt that he would some day go back to church, and it was at this time he knew it was his opportunity. A few months later my whole family was baptized by my dad. The Gospel has brought so many blessings into my life. I always had the support from my Heavenly Father during those tough teenage years, and standards to live by. The church stands for everything and anything that is good. Now that I am a mother and a wife, the Gospel gives me the support and direction I need to fulfill both of these callings. I can't imagine life with out the direction of the Gospel. In all the things I have done in my life, one of the most important decisions I have made is to baptized and marry my sweetheart in House of the Lord.

How I live my faith

There are many ways I live my faith. I live my life as though I am a representative from my church. I know that my actions are a symbol of my beliefs. I know that my choices represent my faith in Jesus Christ, therefore, I am always striving to be a good person. I attend all church meetings. I attend the Temple at least twice a month, but it is a goal that I go every Saturday morning. I read my scriptures and say my prayers daily (well, prayers all day long). I feel that my Father in Heaven is my best friend. When life gets tough, I turn to him in prayer, no matter how many times a day I need His help. I am a Sunday School teacher. I teach the children who are at the age of 9. Quite different than my weekly job teaching teenagers, but such a blessing. In addition to reading my scriptures, I try to read some church publication daily. I love reading inspirational books and trying to find the good in everything.
