Hi I'm Lydia

I'm a newly wed and a soon to be college graduate. I grew up on a potato farm in Idaho. I love the outdoors and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born into a family of five girls. We loved going camping, hiking, fishing etc. My love for outdoor recreation hasn't stopped since I started college. I have gotten involved in activities like rock climbing, canyoneering, mountain biking, and whitewater kayaking. I also love to cook and read good books. I recently was lucky enough to marry an incredible guy for time and all eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I was born into a Mormon family and I'm extremely grateful for my ancestors who joined the church. However, I have had to find out for myself that this church is true. My testimony has been tried and strengthened as I have moved away from home and have faced trials. I feel a great peace and happiness inside when I am doing what I know to be right. I know I can pray to my Heavenly Father at anytime and anywhere and he will hear me. I have come to realize that He loves me and has a plan for me. As a member of the church I have the opportunity to worship my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. I can be happy knowing that I have direction in my life, no matter what is going on around me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church each week. Even when I travel I am sure to look up a church where I can attend. I always feel at home when I am able to attend and worship at an LDS church. Recently I was called to serve in the nursery in my ward where I take care of toddlers ages 18 months to 3 years while their parents attend their meetings at church. We even teach the children small lessons about topics like how their Heavenly Father loves them or how they can pray to Him. It can sometimes be exhausting but I know that my job taking care of the little ones is important. It doesn't matter which calling I have, I am always thankful for an opportunity to serve in my Savior's church. However, living my faith isn't just something I do on Sunday. During the week I find joy in praying to my Heavenly Father and studying the scriptures with my husband. I live my faith in the day to day things I do such as trying my hardest to be patient and kind to others.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The Law of Chastity means that we have no sexual relations before marriage, and afterwards only with our husband or wife. We believe that the power to create children is sacred and special and therefore should be saved for the right time. When we keep the law of chastity we can have peace of mind and happiness. It strengthens marriages and protects families from heartache. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we worship our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. However, we are eternally grateful for all Joseph Smith did as the first prophet of the church when it was restored to the earth. He went through many trials as he dedicated his life to the Lord. We respect and revere him for doing the important work that he did. Show more Show less
