Hi I'm Tyrel Winfield

I was born in Canada, and grew up in Arizona. I like soccer, and to play the tuba in band. and I am a Mormon!!!

About Me

My name is Ryan. I like to play tuba and trombone, but can play all other brass instruments. i cant spell to save my life, so i was never that good in school. i moved to Arizona when i was four and lived in Tucson. my favorite collage team is the university of Arizona, and NOT Arizona State University. My favorite baseball team it Boston Redsox. I am an eagle scout and have loved scouting all my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but as all people I had to find out if this church was true for myself. When i was 13 or 14 i decided that time had come, so after asking some people like my convert grandma i decided to ask the lord. The answer i received was that this church is true, and Joseph Smith is a true prophet, and i know this for a surety.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in the California Fresno mission, and strive to achieve exact obedience. I love to talk to people and bring them unto Christ.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Tyrel Winfield
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So why would his church be set up any different than he had set it up in his days. The apostles help witness of the divine miricles of god, the great love he has for us and many other great and imortent truthes. when you look at the thinges thay have done for the church and world how can people not see tha god has called tham to help us Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Tyrel Winfield
The Book of Mormon is as it says, another witness of Jesus Christ. Not one word in it contradicts, or bashes or puts down in any way the bible. When you read it it is actually simpler to understand than the Bible, it follows a story line of a family in about 600bc. It tells of there hard ships, and struggles, as well as the points of great spiritual guidance. As we read in the first few chapters we receive a challenge from Nephi to "liken the scriptures". Well that applies withe the Book of Mormon, as well as the bible. We can adapt the lessons we learn from the scriptures into our daily life, such as to pray always so we can conquer Satan, or to look unto god in times of trial as well as times of joy. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of god, i know it helps us through our life to better understand the things of Christ, and of God. when we read it we feel the Holy Spirit and it helps us to know that reality as well. I bear my witness with many others that this is true. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Tyrel Winfield
Did you ever notice that people who don't understand something are skeptical? When you first heard of cheesecake what did you think? Cheese, cake, they dong go well, than you see it and it look like a blob of nasty!!!!! When your brother brings it up to you and tells you to "try this", your like no!!! But when you gain the courage to try it its amazing. well that's how the gospel is. People can tell us all day, " try this its amazing", or "its helped me so much", or "it will change your life", but until we try it our self its just words in the air. The only way we can know is to try it, and not just a nibble so we cant taste it, but we need to sometimes man up and take a bite. Most religions aren't going out and preaching "ask god", they just want you to believe them, or the natural man, but shouldn't we believe the one who created us? The one who wants our happiness? The one who knows? Well that's what this church wants, we don't believe in blind faith, but "ask and you will receive", "knock and it will be opened", "prove me". I know this is true, I know it blesses lives, I know it will bless yours, but you don't know that so try me. Ask. I promise you will receive an answer from god. Try the cheesecake!! Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Tyrel Winfield
I get this question a lot. As members of this church we dress up for Sunday, it is a holy day after all. We were Sundays best, suit tie white shirt, and nice hair, women were dress, skirts, and stay modest!!! we do this to represent the savior. As for holidays we celebrate any national holidays and even make a few up, such as movie nite, or bowling night and most of all family home evening. We try to stay close as a family, and all these things help that, (weather we like it or not as kids sometime). Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Tyrel Winfield
Well first off why was Christ baptized by John the baptist? He walked 40 miles to get to John, and could have been baptized by anyone on the way, but chose john. Well John was a Levitt, and a direct decedent so he had authority to act in gods name and could do certain things in gods name, like baptize. Christ was baptized to show us how it was done, and in doing so did two important things, one he was baptized by immersion, and two he was baptized by that authority. So because he was showing us the example we need to be baptized by those same things, if not than we are taking a good step and showing our faith, but not in the way god wants us to. Why do we need authority to baptize? Because other wise it is not gods way of baptism. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Tyrel Winfield
The priesthood is the authority to act in gods name and do his will on earth. The only way you can get it is from someone who already has it. Its like this, if you had a business and had 2 trucks, and 2 employes, one goes and takes your truck and crashes it, flips it, really doesn't do anything good, and worst of all he stole your truck, well you fire him. But the other was give the keys by you, you told him what to do and he did all you asked, than brought it back in perfect condition, well you continue to work through and trust him. That's how the priesthood works, god doesn't want us to steal it or do bad things with it, he has it and offers it to all men who live worthy and use it correctly. He wants us to have it so he can bless us and our family, and the people around us. The priesthood is just that, a blessing to all around us and given from god. Show more Show less
