Hi I'm Gerret

I grew up in Caldwell Idaho, am the third of eight kids and I love to swim, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the third child of wonderful parents, I have two older brothers, four younger brothers and a younger sister, don't feel sorry for her she is just a little bit spoiled. :) I moved around alot when I was younger starting my life in Montana and then moving between there Arizona and Idaho, finnally we settled in Caldwell Idaho but we did not stop moving there, we moved from house to house a few times, however my family has since moved after I moved out. I went to Caldwell High School and participated in sports and advanced learning activities, When I was in Middle school my brothers and I earned some money by mowing lawns, once I got into High School I took some training and became a lifeguard at our local YMCA, I don't reccommed that job to anyone, super boring. After High School I went to a year of college at Utah State University, I am served a mission for the church in the Indianapolis Indiana mission. Things I love to do include sports, exspecially swimming, I love to read a good sci fi, or fantasy book, I love movies and I was one of those kids who also wasted away in front of a screen playing videogames, I love to camp and be out doors with my friends and family, I enjoy hunting even though my luck with that is very slim.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons, I was born into the church, and I participated in all of the activities, so for a long time I was simpley going to church because it is what I was suppoesed to do. Going to church allways felt right and I can remember seeing my friends who did not have any religion of any kind and thinking about how temporary their happieness was, it was all in the moment, who was dating who and who said this about someone else. Then I see those who have that Faith in God our Heavenly Father and his son our savior Jesus Christ, They always seemed to be happier to me. I guess the point where I fully realized that this is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth was when I was the most misserable, when I was at college, my first semester was coming to an end and I was alone, I had no friends at Utah State and I was tired of my lifestyle, I was not happy, I found hope and happiness on the book shelf in my room, the scriptures, I found the light in a dark and misserable room, when I openned the Book of Mormon and the Bible for the first time in several months it filled me with those comforting feelings that can only come through the presence of the Holy Ghost and from then on I have continued to read pray and ponder on the scriptures and the happiness that I have recieved is amazing. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints is the one true church on the earth today, I know that Jesus is the savior of the world as well as my personal savior and I know that both my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know me personally and that he has called a prophet to lead and guide us today. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God as is the Bible and I know that true happiness comes through following the example of our savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As I said in the previous section I love to read the scriptures and I am constantly amazed at the things I continue to learn no matter how many times I read through them. I attend church every Sunday and enjoy fellowshipping with the members of the area I am in currently and Love to feel the spirit in those meetings as you can only feel when a large group of Discples of Christ are gathered to partake of the sacrament as Jesus did with his disiples at the last supper.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes the Bible is the word of God, it is sipley not all of Gods word, there are countless books that could have been part of the bible, the bible was compiled years after the authors of the books in the bible had writen them, but we believe that the books selected to be part of the bible are the words of God. Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No not all members of the church serve missions, young men are encouraged to serve missions and women can go but no one is forced to go on a mission. In fact I have a couple of brothers who chose not to serve a mission and they are treated no differently then I am. Show more Show less
