Hi I'm Andrea.

I live in Arizona. I am a wife, mother and teacher. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, a mother of 5 children (4 living -- one died as an infant), and a certified elementary school teacher. I enjoy exercise, nature, pictures, singing, playing the piano, Spanish, sign language, and even Math! I have Dutch ancestors, but don't speak Dutch. My husband and I have been married for 18 years! We go on weekly dates to keep our relationship strong. Our 4 living children are such a joy, though motherhood isn't easy! Our infant daughter died 9 years ago of complications from her congenital heart defect. We miss her so much, but have faith that we will see and embrace her again! I taught school for 3 years, but now am a stay-at-home mom. I continue taking a college class every couple years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born to parents who were (and still are) active members of the LDS church. They have strong testimonies that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and taught me by example. I had the great privilege of learning from them, and participating in the weekly youth activities, summer girls camp, dance festivals, etc., as well as attending church. I was able to attend Seminary -- a Sunday School class for high school students -- every day of high school. I guess my testimony grew little by little with each day, each time I read the scriptures, said my prayers, and learned and practiced true principles. I feel the Spirit often, and it confirms that the teachings of the church -- the same now as the church Jesus Christ set up when He lived on earth -- are true. I believe this church is true with all my heart. I know Heavenly Father knows and loves me. I know Jesus Christ lives and loves me. Living prophets and prophets in the scriptures testify with such power and I feel the truth of their words. I'm a Mormon because I have a testimony that the gospel is true!

How I live my faith

I volunteer at my children's schools. I help teach the children at church and in Cub Scouts. I visit ladies in our church and share a message from the scriptures and prophets (called Visiting Teaching). Prayer is a big part of my daily life. I believe Heavenly Father has commanded us to pray, and that he wants to help and bless us. So I pray in faith that He is listening, He hears me, and that He will help me. Life can be difficult! So I rely on Heavenly Father.
