Hi I'm Merika

I am an artist, mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother first out of everything in my life. My husband and I have been blessed with five children ranging from 13 to age 2. I have goals and dreams that I have accomplished and hope to be able to accomplish them all. I love life and learning new things. I adore nature and I always get a big swelling in my heart when I see God's beautiful creations. I enjoy eating and cooking, but mainly just eating:) I love the joy I receive when my children are happy and content with each other. I am an artist of canvas. I love to paint paintings to go on the walls of my and family members homes. I have a great desire to serve others, I always have. I am friendly and love to meet and talk to everyone. I love to help raise my family with my husband who is my best friend and the comedian in the family. It was my goal to be a stay at home mom, and my husband is kind and enables me to do so. I love to take college classes whenever I can, I love the feeling I get when I learn.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I love the way I feel trying to live like Jesus Christ. I have gone to other churches and they teach some truth, but when I am in this church I feel so good, I know what is being taught is truth because I feel it. It's not just going to church and believing in Christ. You have to live it. And I love the feeling I get when I try to live as Jesus did; loving everyone, being kind, serving, giving of my time... That is my main goal in life, to be a great christian. I am far from my goal but I am trying.

How I live my faith

We as a family pray every morning and evening; to help our children to know that we can talk to a loving God who protects us and we thank him for everything he gives us. We eat together as a family and some of the funnest times come at dinner time. Before we get ready to go to sleep at night we take turns reading from the Book of Mormon and a page out of the Bible. So they will be familiar with both teachings of Jesus. And then once a week we have a family night where we get together to have a spiritual lesson or story, a game, and a dessert. This family night brings us closer as a family. On Sundays I am a teacher to seven and eight year old children at church. They are a joy to teach. I try to live how My Savior lived while he was on the earth. I am not just a Sunday church person. I try to live my faith, I work everyday to try to keep the commandments.
