Hi I'm Tristan

I am an climber, a neuroscientist, a vegan, and a fun loving guy. I love the Lord, and you know what? I'm a Mormon too.

About Me

I am an outdoor enthusiast-- almost nothing can keep me from exploring the wide world. I am a rock climber and straight up nerd. I enjoy reading everything from John Steinbeck to J.R.R. Tolkien. I also enjoy thinking, cooking (eating), learning, talking, working, serving, playing, writing, going on adventures, and pushing my limits beyond what I previously thought possible.I think that life is a beautiful opportunity for each of us to experience joys and sorrows and for us to learn more about ourselves and God by our experiences and by trying to become better people.

Why I am a Mormon

It sometimes seems like this world is a world of darkness and everyone is wandering from place to place looking for a light in it. Everyone is looking for a way to be happy. What I have found, however, is that this world is a world of light and that the darkness that we sometimes seem to feel is actually self-imposed. We are meant to have joy, but it is only in and through Jesus Christ that we can have that joy. And it is only through His church and the fulness of His gospel that we can have a fulness of joy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the fulness of His gospel and has allowed me to leave my own darkness and become a light to the world. Anyone can come to know for themselves that this is Christ's church on the earth. But they must seek it out earnestly. "Ask and ye shall recieve, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you."

How I live my faith

I never really feel like I'm the best person in the world. If I were to sit down right now and make a list of all the things that I need to be working on in my life I'm sure that I would get tired of writing it and everyone else would be tired of reading it. What the Savior did for me fills me with such a sense of gratitude and love that I want to be my very best and try to become more like him and become a better person. I've promised myself that if something good needs to be done and I see that it does then I need to never hesitate and just do it. I strive to lift up the hearts of those that I know are down, I always try to lighten the burdens on others instead of becoming one. I am continually trying to be the person that people love to talk to or interact with because I make them feel more hope and more joy.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Holy Bible is the word of God. It was written and recorded by prophets and apostles who were inspired to record their teachings in order to help teach and instruct others. The Book of Mormon and the Bible support each other because they are each written and recorded by true prophets of God who are inspired and instructed to record those things. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and I also know that the Bible is the word of God. They each testify and point toward Christ. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is an action word. Faith can be explained by a simple metaphor. Take a person and blindfold him. Make sure he can't see at all. Then tell him that he needs to run straight ahead, as fast as he can, for one minute, don't worry about getting hurt. Wouldn't that be scary for him? If he has full faith in you, he will run his heart out. But if he doesn't, he'll be hesitant to go. That's exactly the same for our faith in Jesus Christ. To say we have faith but then to not act on his teachings means that we have no faith in Christ. But to say we have faith and then to follow His example in all things means that we have a great faith in Christ. Faith is a full trust and confidence that when Christ asks you to, you run because you know that He won't let you get hurt. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

It's the best. It can be hard at times, but we recieve the greatest amount of joy from things that we work hard for. Live Christ's teachings, be happy. Show more Show less
