Hi I'm Shari

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being me! I have finally reached the prime-time of my life. I am married to a terrific man, have five children, 8 wonderful grandchildren and 4 terrific great-grandchildren. I am doing some things for me now. I used to fly a small plane but have changed hobbies. I now like to go kayaking on the lake. I love family history and geneology. Any time I can spare, I will be reading a good book. I love mowing the grass and planting flowers. I enjoy doing volunteer work and serving others. It is wonderful to see the smile on someone's face, knowing it is there because of something I have done. I love being the first one up in the morning, just before day-break. I can look out at the rising sun and know I am alive to see another day. Some might say that I lead a rather boring life. But who can find boredom in watching a grand-baby smile, seeing the hollyhock open its bright colors or to conjure up pictures in their minds from reading the best of literature, history or the accomplishments of others? My life is not boring. It is perfect for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I spent twenty years searching for a Church I could believe in. I was looking for a church where I could take my little five-year-old son to Sunday school so that he could learn more about Jesus. Then, in 1975, my search ended when I discovered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Two wonderful young missionaries, named Elder Callister and Elder Hatch began teaching us the discussion lessons. They challenged me to read the Book of Mormon and to pray about its truthfulness. I accepted that challenge and before long I was able to enter the waters of baptism. That was thirty-six years ago. I have come to understand the meaning of my life here on earth. I know that I am here to work out my own salvation through times of both trials and happiness. I love this gospel and I know it is true. It brings much joy and opportunity into my life. I know the Lord loves me and will answer my sincere prayers. I have been greatly blessed and enjoy serving the Lord. I can't imagine not having the Church in my daily life. How grateful I am!

How I live my faith

Our Church offers many opportunities to serve. Every month, my companion and I visit with a few of the women in our ward. We love visiting with one another. We ask if they have any needs we can help with. We take a new message to them each month. These messages are uplifting and suggest ways we can learn to be more self-sufficient for ourselves, as well as our families. Each message includes words of a spiritual nature which enables us to better understand how the Lord would have us live our lives. I also serve others through assigned acts of compassionate service. We keep in touch with the other members so that we can offer to assist with meals or by other means when there is a need. I also have a stake calling where I serve as a scribe. With these callings, plus attending regular meetings every Sunday, my life is busy and full. I love serving and the great blessings this service brings into the lives of our family.
