Hi I'm Shirley

I'm a mother. I home school my children. I am a cub scout leader, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love holding babies, working with small children and helping older children to learn. I have a two-year college degree in early childhood education. I started homeschooling when one of my children struggled in school. I have home schooled off and on as needed. I love learning along with my children. I am a mother of seven and a grandmother of two. My best friend is my husband of 32 years. I look forward to spending forever with him.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church when they were young married. I am so glad they did. They took my siblings and me to church every week. They lived what they taught. I have always known that my Heavenly Father is real; that He loves me, and that I can pray and talk to Him anytime, anywhere. When I live His commandments, I feel happy. When I don't, I am unhappy. I feel closer to God when I study the words of the prophets, past and present. The Book of Mormon has enriched my life. I have read it cover-to-cover so many times I have lost count. Each time I read it, my Heavenly Father teaches me more things. I know it is true.

How I live my faith

My husband and I read scriptures every day with our children. We are currently going through the New Testament. We gather together in family prayer before the day starts and at the end of the day. One night a week we talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ, play a game, and have a treat. I was asked to be a den leader in cub scouts and have been doing this for several years. The boys are so much fun. I have also worked with the toddlers in nursery, the 16 and 17-year-old young women, and in the women’s organization of the Church. Each thing I have been asked to do has helped me learn more. When I am serving and helping other people, I feel really good inside.
