Hi I'm Glenn Mortensen

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Even with the heat I love being outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Lehi, Arizona with my four brothers where we were able to spend our summers roaming free. We moved to the bigger city of Phoenix and had to become urbanized. I did marry my gradeschool sweetheart and we had five children. We now have twelve grandchildren. Over the years my wife and I built two homes together. I learned through that process that my wife is a great organizer and has a lot of common sense. We like doing everything together. We have been able to travel quite a bit together and have seen many parts of this wonderful planet. I currently work with a large concrete block manufacturing company and have the responsibility to train the workers how to be safe. I enjoy working with people.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of Mormons who first joined the church in Denmark. Eventhough I was raised in the church I had to learn for myself if the church is true or not and how I was going to live my life. When I turned 19 years old I chose to serve a mission for the church and was called to serve in the La Paz, Bolivia mission. I learned a lot about the church, people, and about myself. I had to follow the same process as anyone who has a testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith and of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I had to study and pray and ask that the Holy Ghost show me what was true. I received that conviction of heart. Without it I would not have been able to serve as a missionary and continue on for the last forty years serving in many positions in the church.

How I live my faith

Besides serving a mission when I was 19 until I was 21, I have worked with the adults in the church and with the youth. I worked with the Boy Scouts for a few years and really enjoyed it. I had as much fun going to summer camp as an adult Scout leader as I did when I was a boy. I currently have the opportunity to work with the 16 to 18 year old boys in the Scout Venturing Program. It is a real challenge to keep up with them. My name is Glenn Mortensen and I am a Mormon.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Glenn Mortensen
The Bible is very improtant to Mormons. The New Testament is a first hand account of the life of the Savior and the writings and testmonies of the apostles who set out to take the gospel to all the world. Through the scriptures we learn of the organization of Christ's church and the gifts of the spirit that follow those who believe. The scriptures reveal to us the things we need to know to follow Christ. Show more Show less
