Hi I'm Eric Duncan

I'm a Mormon. I live in Arizona with my wife Brenley. I currently work for Apple Inc and study at Arizona State University.

About Me

I am currently an economics major in college, preparing to graduate this December. I am going to celebrate my second anniversary in November with my lovely wife. I love to spend time with my family in any setting. We go swimming, have barbecues, go shooting, and do lots of other activities. I love to learn, it is something my father instilled in me from a young age, an absolute passion for learning. All subjects interest me but history has always been a particular subject of interest for me. I love to learn of those who have gone before us, their struggles, their successes, and their influence on our world today. In addition to my love of learning I absolutely love sports! This love includes all competitive sports, I played football, basketball, and baseball in high school. In mexico while serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I acquired a love for soccer. In general I love many activities and pursuits and am just passionate about life and grateful for each additional day I have.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My parents both have long pioneer family trees that go back to the early days of the church. I grew up in a small community that was predominately of my same faith. This was a benefit but also somewhat of a stumbling block for me. I was able to be around many who shared my same beliefs and strengthened me with their example, however, many times I did not appreciate the blessings of living the standards of the church because they were so common and the "norm". After high school I went to college for a semester and worked at two large companies in a large metropolitan city. This was a dramatic change for a young man who had a graduating class of 44 or so moving to a city of millions. I was able however to see firsthand the consequences of living the commandments the Lord has revealed in our day and also the consequences of not living them. In this time of learning and growth I began to develop a closer relationship to my Heavenly Father and a greater love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I then chose to serve a mission for the church and was assigned to serve in Monterrey Mexico for two years. It was this crucial and special time in my life that my love of the gospel and the church was solidified. I gained a stronger testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, the Divinity of Jesus Christ, and the Mission of Joseph Smith in the restoration of the Gospel. I felt the Holy Ghost testify of the truthfulness of the message I shared with the wonderful people of Mexico. Upon returning home, I was married and sealed for time and for all eternity in the temple to a wonderful woman, the love of my life. I know that by living righteously, making and keeping covenants with God, and striving every day to be better, I will enjoy joy in this life and an eternal family with God after this mortal life is over. I love my Savior and Heavenly Father and know the Gospel brings peace and joy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to conduct myself in a manner patterned after the example of Jesus Christ. I make many mistakes but try and make everyday better than the one before. I serve in the church by teaching the young men, ages 12-18, every sunday I am able to teach them the doctrine of Christ and help them with their individual struggles. I have developed a love and admiration for each and every one of them. I do my best to love and cherish my wife and stand by and support my other family. I do my best to be a friend to all around me, although I am a generally quiet person around those I do not know, I try and keep a smile on and a kind demeanor so as to hopefully brighten someone's day. I study the teachings of the Lord to his people anciently and the modern revelations in this day and age. I then try to apply and live these teachings to the best of my abilities. In short I try and live my life after my Savior Jesus Christ so that I can be the best that I can be and represent Him, and his Church in the best way possible.
