Hi I'm Sandy

I'm a wife, a mother, a grandmother, I love to cook, bake and decorate cakes, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married, I am Mom to 3 & Grandma to 6 with another on the way. My hobbies are decorating cakes, reading, and doing crafts. I'm from California but now live in a small town in the mountains of Arizona.

Why I am a Mormon

My daughter has been a Mormon for 10 years. I was fine with this but wasn't interested in seeing what it was about even though I believed in God. Then we moved to this small town. One day a neighbor came by to welcome us to the neighborhood and invited me to his church. I wasn't going to go, but I keep having this feeling I needed to go. So, with my daughter's encouragement and the nagging feeling, I went. I thought, what's it going to hurt? Our lives needed a change. I still wasn't sure about the church because I'd heard so many bad things about Mormon beliefs. I doubted I'd go back, even though all had welcomed me with open arms. Then the neighbors came back and talked to us about going again. This time my husband was home. He'd already told me he wouldn't go, then he told them we'd go before I could say no. I still wasn't sure but agreed to have the Missionaries come to give us lessons. The more I listened, read, and attended the services the more peace and happiness I felt. When I went to the services I felt like I belonged. I began to see that bad things I'd heard weren't true. Mormons believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ, & The Holy Ghost. They believe that Jesus died for our sins. They believe you must repent, be baptized by immersion, and receive the Holy Ghost. I believed these things already. They teach the Bible along with the Book of Mormon. I read the Book of Mormon and I struggled between doubt and belief. Good things were starting to happen in our lives but I was still doubting. I kept praying to know the truth about the Book of Mormon and the church. I expected to hear Heavenly Father say, "Hey! Dummy! This is true!". Didn't happen. So when I stopped expecting that, I got a peaceful feeling that said this is where you belong. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I was baptized July 12. 2011. Our life has changed for the better. I am a daughter of God. I am where I belong.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday I am able to. I sing in the choir. I am a visiting teacher. I visit with other members, see how they are doing, teach them lessons from the scriptures, and be a friend. I make it a point to attend church functions and contribute. This is where my love of cooking & baking come in handy. I read the scriptures and pray daily. I do my best to be a good example to others, to truly love my neighbors, and help where I can.
