Hi I'm Raymond

i grew up in Idaho, love the outdoors and new adventures. i am majoring in linguistics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

i have a non conventional way of thinking. perhaps partly because of my religion and partly because of an unquenchable wonder-lust i find myself coming to conclusions and taking actions that hardly make seance to others, be they of my faith or not. i am never less than amazed at where this life has taken me! the jobs ive worked range from door to door sales, teaching, fast food to the more inane such as a freelance artist and a beekeeper. i lived for a time in Brazil when i served a full time mission. i am now very much enjoying my linguistics major but still have no idea what i am going to do with it...other than embrace life and travel, learn and love with a greater opacity. i dont care much for those "get-t- know-me" questions such as "what do you do" "where are you from" "what do you look for in a...." who i am is often changing where ive been is a sacred and wonderful experience that should be shared in a more personal setting, and as for who or what i look for in my day to day life, be it lover or companion or just fun, well as long as it/they are wholesome i don't hold ANY preconceptions, i want to engage life and people with perplexities and irregularities intact. one question that i will answer, because it is often on my mind, is this "what is your idea of a perfect vacation?" for me it would be to grab my gear; backpack fishing pole, sleeping bag, tent etc... and just get out, let life sweep me away. hitchhike! draw! write! this world is my oyster!

Why I am a Mormon

why i am a Mormon? i believe that, as Socrates did, a life unquestioned is a life not worth living. there are pearls of truth to be found in obscure and remote locations, they are found by those who sincerely look for them. many religions have vast wells of knowledge that can profit our lives. we can know if we have found a pearl of knowledge if from that time forward we can no longer deny that we know it, and we can know if we accepted that pear into our lives it we can no longer live without following its precepts. i cannot deny the feelings i have had while reading the book of mormon , nor can i deny the love i have felt from an unseen being as i prayed and still pray about the truthfulness of this doctrine. i am not perfect, but i believe that i can become the best person i can be by following this doctrine than i could by any other means. this is why i am a Mormon, it is the best thing i know.

How I live my faith

my faith is very much a part of my day to day activities. every monday i meet with a group or single adults such as myself, where i help organize home evening, this is where we have a short gospel related lesson and activities, we also can lean on and depend on these individuals for help on anything from homework, building a house or just needing someone to talk to. i also get to participate in a gospel related class called Institute where college aged people can study religion and take a break from the scholastic affairs and worries for free! there is also swing dance and choir on Thursdays and Sunday service on well...Sundays. really though how i live my faith is in the little things i do, how i speak and treat others, and most importantly what i do when no one is watching! if you have any questions please contact me!
