Hi I'm Dave

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a manufacturing engineer in automotive. I enjoy travel, history and sport. I have lived in the UK, France and the USA. I have four children. My true happiness comes from being with my family and seeing them find happiness in their lives and reaching their potential. I enjoy badminton, astronomy and working on cars and mechanical things. I also enjoy decorating and home renovations.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was growing up, I had a great love for my family. I really admired the sacrifice that my parents made for us. I respected the wisdom and knowledge that they tried to pass on to me. They taught me many values that I hold dear in my life. I knew that this life had a purpose and that the family relationships were not so strong, only to end at death. I knew there was a purpose to this life. I also knew that there were certain attributes that must exist in the Lord's Church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has taught me that God has a plan for families. Families are ordained of God and have purpose eternally. Within them, we have the opportunities to be nurtured and are able to grow and learn how to sacrifice, serve and love each other. These experiences prepare us for the eternities. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the fullness of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed through his Prophet joseph Smith. The simple truths of the Atonement and the mission of the Saviour are taught from scriptures that have been written for us in our day. These are in addition to the Bible. The Book of Mormon is a second testament of Christ that supports the Bible and helps us to lead our lives so that we can find true happiness. The Church teaches that there is meaning to this life. Every day has purpose and our free agency is an important part of the learning experiece of this life. Choice and consequence. We have a living prophet and twelve apostles who receive revelation for the world. The Lord loves his children in these latter days as much as he did in ancient times. The principles revealed through his living prophets will keep us safe and we need not have to fear. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the attributes of the Lord's Church that I had been seeking. The Church exhorts all to come and join with us and "bring all of the good things that you have". These will be added to in abundance.

How I live my faith

I serve as a young men's leader and scout master. We have helped the majority of our young men to reach the rank of Eagle scout and to be important members of their communities and schools. The principles of the Gospel, that are taught in the Church, give these young men the internal compass and direction to stand as exemplary role models to those around them. We try to help the young men to become the leaders and examples for the present and for the future. These principles are taught through the youth programmes of the Church. these programmes encourage service, sacrifice, morality, hard- work and accountability. My happiness comes from helping them to reach their potential and to remember that they are sons and daughters of a loving heavenly father.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The book of Mormon is another testament of Christ. It contains the fullness of the Gospel that was revealed through the Lord's prophets on the American continent. It was written for our day. It stands as another witness to the truths contained in the Bible. The Lord has visited and spoken to other sheep who are not of this fold but there is one shepheard for all of his precious sheep.
