Hi I'm Shelley

I'm an Arizona native, oldest of 6 girls, wife to my best friend and eternal companion, mom to 5 amazing kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Arizona, USA as the oldest of 6 girls. I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science and love to spend time out doors going on walks, hikes, and camping. I married my best friend who became my eternal companion. Together we are raising 5 kids, 4 boys and a girl. I am a stay-at-home mom and try to savor each moment with my children. I am a crafter, seamstress, quilter, cook, digital scrapbooker, amateur photographer; generally anything creative I love doing.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of members. My ancestors worked along side Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and walked the plains as pioneers. But as a teenager I had to know for myself. I was dating a guy who caused me to question what I truly believed. I was 17 and had the opportunity to go to Salt Lake City for General Conference. I went with the question, "Is the church really true?" on my mind. As we were waiting for the session to start, the whole congregation stood and began to sing the hymn, "We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet" as President Hinkley entered the room. I still remember the tears that welled up, the flood of warmth that washed over me and the words, "You know it's true, you've always known it's true," come to my mind. Since that day I've never questioned my faith. I have traveled to the Sacred Grove, Joseph Smith's home in Palmyra, and the Hill Cumorah. But even if I had never physically walked on that Hallowed Ground, I would still know from the depth of my soul that Joseph Smith is a true prophet, and he really did restore our Saviour Jesus Christ's church to the earth in the latter-days. I know that Heavenly Father knows and loves me personally. I have felt His loving influence and guidance many times throughout my life. I am not perfect but I am trying everyday to do better and be better. I know that with my Heavenly Father's help, I can fulfill my divine potential. I will be eternally grateful for the gift of the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the church. Most of my time so far has been serving as a leader in the Cub Scouts. I have also spent many years teaching the children in Primary. What a gift to feel of their spirits and thirst for knowledge! Currently I help with compassionate service in our ward. A long title for someone that organizes help for families with new babies, hospitialization, sickness, or other needs. Along with being a visiting teacher to some of the women in our ward, I feel this is one way I can be the Lord's hands in caring for His children. Everyone goes through difficult times and trials in their lives. I am so grateful that I have the church's organization to help provide and assist those who need a little extra help and love.
