Hi I'm Jenifer

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just an everyday person, just like so many others. I'm a wife, a friend, and a nurse. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, sightseeing and traveling; I wish I could do more of it. We have a dog that we just love, I think he might be the world's sweetest dog. My husband and I get so much laughter out of watching and playing with him! We also have a cat and a fish tank... I guess it's like a mini zoo, our cousins and friend's kids love it! I just love to admire the beautiful world we live in. I like to read (not textbooks though), play games, cook, do home improvements, kayak, and so much more. I'm always up for trying to learn something new! I see amazing things everyday. Life is such a miracle.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the LDS church my whole life. Growing up I was often the only one my age in my neighborhood of my faith. Sometimes that meant I was laughed at and wasn't invited out so I would have to stay home as friends went out. It would have been easy to go with my friends, sometimes it felt like it would have been easier to just walk away from what I had been taught. As I grew up I realized that wasn't true. When I was in church, saying my prayers and reading the scriptures, I felt a connection to the Savior and my Heavenly Father. When I lived my life in a way that kept me in tune with my faith I felt that connection grow stronger. There were times in my life when I wavered, in those times I felt an emptiness that was only filled when I realigned myself to the principles I had been taught. I remember one particular Christmas Eve when I decided to make the decision to commit fully to being a member. We had just moved and I had recently starting college. I was alone; my family was out of town, my friends were all with family. I remember driving to the Temple and I parked my car and just sat looking at the Temple. I heard the song "O Holy Night" start playing. I listened to the words as the song finished, I got out and walked around the Temple grounds and I felt a warmth build inside me. I knew this was a Holy place. I promised Heavenly Father that Christmas Eve I would start living my life more in tune with His plan and I would someday be inside the Temple. It was the best decision I have ever made, I have never regretted it. It hasn't always been easy, but it has never led me wrong. I know this is where God wants me to be. It is hard to describe the feeling inside when you know where you are is the right place. It's like when you are looking for a new home and you walk in a house and you just know this is where you need to be, that this is going to be your new house. It's a feeling of warmth and surety. That is what it feels like for me to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I work with teenage girls that are in my community and church. I mostly work with 12-13 year old girls. They keep me on my toes and they keep me informed on all the latest teen news. I help the girls plan and organize weekly activities where they learn new skills, sports and hobbies...it's very similar to a community youth group programs. Together with a few other women we teach these teenage girls about the Savior and his life and love for them as well as helping them discover who they are. A great thing about our faith is our ability to reach out to those around us. We participate in many community programs such as food and clothing drives. It's like being part of a big family, everyone is so willing to help when someone is in need.
