Hi I'm Rachel Taylor

I'm a hair stylist, a dance teacher, a Texan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Rachel and I'm 23 years old. I am the youngest of 6 kids and I was born in Nebraska but I grew up in Texas. I have a mother who is my hero and the best example I've ever known. I have the best siblings a girl could ask for and I love my father very much. I love being an aunt more than anything in the world. I have been dancing nearly my whole life and I'm in love with it. I was on a competitive dance team for 4 years in which we won many national titles. I moved to Arizona after high school to pursue a career in cosmetology. I graduated cosmetology school in 2008. I now live in the Phoenix area where I work as a hair stylist, teach dance, and work as a secretary for a wonderful company. I like to keep busy and enjoy life at the same time! I have been a member of the LDS church my whole life. I love the direction my life is going and can't wait for what the future holds!

Why I am a Mormon

If you would have asked me why I'm a Mormon 14 years ago, I probably would have said something like "Because I was raised that way, because my mom says so." When asked that question now my answer is much less juvenile but still just as simple, because I know it is true. I have not always been so sure in my beliefs and I have struggled greatly in my adult life with being a Mormon. I finally hit a crossroad in my life where I could no longer be two people. I have always known the truthfulness of this gospel but I had a very hard time living the lifestyle. I come from what most people would refer to as a "broken family", and I would sometimes use the absence of my father as an excuse for my actions. I realized that I had to make the decision of which direction my life would go. The easy way out for me was to abandon my faith, morals, and beliefs. I thought about this for a long time and went back and forth on what I should do. Of course it would be easier to abandon everything I had been taught because then I wouldn't feel guilty for the things I was doing BUT what is a life without accoutability? No life at all in my book. I am not one to take the easy way out and I am not a quitter nor a coward. I know that this church is true with all my heart. I used to be embarrassed when people would ask me about being Mormon but now I have never been more proud in my life. I love this gospel and the strength it gives me to face this modern world with courage and faith in God. I will never stray again and I love this opportunity I have been given to share my faith and beliefs with those around me and now all over the world. This gospel is beautiful, life saving, life changing, and 100% true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to those around me. People notice something different in me and are always curious. I love to break the mold of what people believe a Mormon is versus what we really are. I live my faith by showing compassion to those around me. I attend a singles ward here in Arizona that I love. Everyone is so friendly and that is my favorite part about our church. You will never find a more loving, helpful, kind bunch as we are.

What is faith?

Rachel Taylor
Faith for me is "believing without seeing" which isn't as simple as it sounds. I think in the world we live it has become such a necessity for there to be physical proof attached to every thought, theory, or idea. Although you may not see God or an Angel or have physical evidence that the gospel is true or that God exists, with your faith you will know the truth in your heart. I personally value that way more than any "physical proof" anyone could show me. When you allow yourself to trust God 100% in all that you do you will feel that undeniable burning in your chest and will know that you have exercised your faith to its full potential. Faith is believing without seeing, putting all the trust that you have in our Heavenly Father, and knowing without a doubt that if you do so, he will never fail you. Show more Show less
