Hi I'm Logan

I'm a Ph.D. student studying journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of two who left a regular job as a newspaper editor to go back to school. I want to earn a Ph.D. in journalism so I can teach at the university level. I decided to come down this path after teaching a journalism course as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University and really enjoying it. I love video games, college football, technology, mountain biking and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of this church but I choose to remain a part of it because I know that's what God wants me to do. I feel His spirit when I read the Book of Mormon. I hear His voice when His chosen prophets and apostles speak. I recognize His touch in my life as he blesses me for living his gospel. I know God lives and I know He has a plan for us, and I know that He created The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to teach His children about that plan and prepare us to return to live with Him.

How I live my faith

I have served in various teaching and leadership positions in the church, including teaching Sunday School lessons to children, teenagers and adults; directing a church choir; administering church finances; and serving a proselytizing mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil. I visit other members of the congregation and provide service unrelated to church and church meetings. I also teach the gospel in my home. Every Monday night we gather as a family to hear a brief gospel lesson and sing hymns and pray. It is a reminder to us that our faith is a commitment encompassing every aspect of our lives, not just a few hours on Sunday.
