Hi I'm Aaron

I love bass fishing tournaments and running trail races. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Aaron. I graduated college with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and work as Director of Environmental Services for a civil engineering company performing environmental impact studies, delineating wetlands, performing stream bioassays, creating wetland mitigation plans and tree planting plans. I also manage the employees that work for me in my department. When not working, I spend my time with my family camping, going to garage sales, watching movies, walking, riding bikes or just goofing around. My favorite personal hobby is bass fishing, either in tournaments or just for fun. I enjoy playing the banjo, gardening, woodworking, officiating high school basketball, hiking, rock hounding, running trail races and making my own fishing lures. I am married to a wonderful wife and have two wonderful children. My daughter was recently married and my son is currently serving a mission for the church. I also have a little Yorkshire Terrier that gives the family tremendous love and affection.

Why I am a Mormon

I always wondered what my purpose on earth was. I always thought there had to be more to life than what I had. I often asked God to answer my prayers about my life and what, if anything, I could do to live better. I also thought that it would be awful to spend years looking for the perfect spouse and then to lose it all when I died as I heard at every wedding that I attended. I met a sweet young lady, that had recently joined the church. Throughout our dating she taught me all she could about the church. I knew nothing about Mormons and realized that the more she taught, the more questions that I had had growing up were being answered. When I heard that families could be together forever, I became excited that this was the church for me. To make a long story shorter, this sweet young lady married me. I was baptized 2 months after our marriage and sealed in the Washington D.C. temple one year later. As my life began to change following my baptism, I began to experience many wonderful blessings. The more I lived the true teachings of Jesus Christ, the better I felt. The better I felt, the more I wanted to learn about my Father in Heaven and my brother and Savior Jesus Christ. I have been a member of the church for over 28 years and have served in many callings that have given me great experiences and opportunities to live a better life. I have truly been blessed both temporally and spiritually and am still learning. Being a member of the church is not burdensome or restricting as many people state. It provides me with guidelines and direction in my life that helps me to be a better person and to one day receive all that my Father in Heaven has.

How I live my faith

Upon my baptism, I decided that whatever my Father in Heaven wanted me to do, I would do it to the best of my ability. I have served as a primary teacher, sunday school teacher, scoutmaster, counselor and then President of the Elders Quorum, served in two Bishoprics, served 10 years as a Stake Clerk, served as a High Priest Group Leader and am now serving as a Stake High Councilor. Each calling has given me the opportunity to learn more about the teachings of Jesus Christ and have given me the opportunity to serve in many capacities to many people. I have been assigned to home teach many families and have found it to be a wonderful experience as I have befriended them all and have learned to love them through service. I have found that the more I read the scriptures, the more I realize how they apply to my everday life. There are many life's lessons to be gained by reading and studying the scriptures on a daily basis. Prayer is a blessing in my life. I always know that my Father in Heaven stands at the ready when I kneel or say a silent prayer at anytime of the day or night. I always receive answers to my prayers and often feel the gentle guidance that my loving Father gives me when I need it. Feeling His love inspires me to continue regardless of the struggles that everyday life throws at me. I am grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ. It has given me hope that my human carelessness and mistakes can be forgiven and then after all that I can do to repent and live my life according to the commandments, I can be worthy to return to my Father. I am truly blessed.
