Hi I'm Don Harrison

I'm a father, a grandfather, I love the outdoors, boating and motorcycles. I'm an airline pilot. I'm a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost, I'm a family man. I love to be with, and do things with my family. My wife Julie and I have been married over 29 years, and we have six children and 5 grand-children. We love camping, boating, exploring, hiking and traveling. I learned to fly as a teenager, graduated from college, then spent nine years in the USAF as a T-38 Instructor and F-111F pilot. I still fly as an airline pilot. I fly to live, but don't live to fly.

Why I am a Mormon

Although raised as a Mormon, in college I began questioning the tenets and doctrines of my faith. Encouraged by my patient father to 'find out for myself,' I began to seriously consider, study, and pray to God about whether He was there, whether He knew who I was, and if He had a Church in the world. After some time, I came to understand for myself that there IS a God who created the world, who is the Father of the brother and sisterhood of mankind, and who has a plan for all of us. He wants to show us all how we can live so as to find happiness and peace in whatever place we find ourselves. He wants us to build strong and loving families, and can help us if we turn to Him. I feel I am extremely blessed by this knowledge, it has guided me and blessed my life beyond measure, for which I will be forever grateful. I have found the life and teachings of Jesus Christ from the Bible, Book of Mormon and other writings about Him to be the bedrock of wisdom and truth in all human relations. He and His doctrines are truly the light of the world. He overcame death and lives today in a manner I don't fully understand but trust I someday will. I suppose my testimony is best described by a quote from C.S. Lewis, a devout Christian himself, "I believe in God as I believe in the rising sun; not because I see it, but by it I see everything else."

How I live my faith

My wife and I attempt to serve others in our community. We have adopted two wonderful special needs children who are every bit members of our family as our 4 biological children. We serve in our Church in teaching youth groups, in looking out for our neighbors, and helping in our community service projects. I try to be of help to others, and enjoy working on public welfare projects in which our Church is involved. I've had the opportunity several times to help others understand our Church better, and enjoy dispelling some of the misunderstandings and myths out there about Mormons.
