Hi I'm Dusty

I'm a guitar player, a singer/songwriter, a lefty, a husband, I love to make others happy, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a guitar player and songwriter. I am very Passionate about music, and hope to make a career out of it. I play mostly rock styles of music, but I have an open mind toward trying new styles of music. I love going to rock concerts and just listen to rock music whether in a car ride, or in my bedroom. I've found music due to a slight studder I have in my voice and I've found that I don't studder when I sing and I don't even use my voice when playing guitar. That's why I love it. I've decided to put music on hold for two years to serve the Lord as a missionary.I served in the California Carlsbad mission, and I loved every minute of it. I was born in Arizona, but due to my parents divorce at age 5 I moved to Virginia to be closer to family. Then, when my mom remarried we moved to Massachusetts at age 12 where they are currently living and I am a complete East Coast city boy. I love going to Boston during the Summer and Fall and enjoying all that is around me. I love to read as well. I've found that some of the novels I have read has brought me inspiration for my music. All in all, I just love to enjoy life and have fun with friends and family. I have 3 brothers and 4 sisters, 2 older, 4 younger, and a twin sister. I love my brothers and sisters and I am always striving to be a good example and friend to all of them. Being in a big family has helped me with being open minded and always seeing the good in others. I recently married my best friend and I couldn't be happier.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. But a time came in my life during my teen years that I needed to learn for myself if the church was true or not. I didn't have a good influence of friends or very much support from friends for my beliefs. People during school would sometimes even tease me about some of the standards of the church and it was a tough time. I went to church, but didn't really get much out of it. Then a friend in the church just told me to pray to God and just ask if he's there and take everything in the church more seriously. So I did, I listened to the talks in chruch, I read the Book of Mormon. Then it just clicked, I knew without a doubt that everything I've learned since childhood was indeed the Truth. I changed friends and started getting more involved in the church. And for that reason, I decided to serve a mission. I know it is true and no one will convice me otherwise.

How I live my faith

I served the church as a full time missionary for the church in Southern California. Before my mission I was an executive secretary for a Young Single Adult group (part of another ward) I was in. Which meant I was in charge of knowing who was coming, who wasn't, and who needed to see the Bishop. I loved the calling because it helped me get to know other members in the group. As a missionary, I am seeking to share this great knowledge I have with many others who don't know about the church or Jesus Christ, and it is something I have loved since I day I came into the mission field. I married in the Temple, which is for time and all eternity. I want to be the person I love forever and the Temple allows me to do it.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Dusty
Stay away from it and focus your life on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Pornography is something the world offers that brings only a temporary thrill only to fade away later and is addictive. Just simply stay away from it and make sure you are never alone. Being around others helps keep your mind from wandering towards this spiritually destructive substance. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Dusty
The word of wisdom is God's law of health for His Children. It was given to Joseph Smith in 1833 after his wife, Emma, asked him if men of God should be smoking and chewing tobacco during the church meetings. Joseph spent some time praying and he recieved the Word of Wisdom as the answer to his prayer. It's simply the food guide pyramid on a healthy lifestyle and it tells us the things that are not good for the body, specifically Tobacco, Alcohol, Tea, and Coffee. The Leaders of the Church have also mentioned staying away from illegal drugs and other harmful subtances proven by science to be bad for the body. Show more Show less
