Hi I'm Jill

I'm a Mormon. I'm a mother of 2 teenage boys, and an accountant.

About Me

After graduating high school I went straight into the work force. I attended beauty college for a while, waitressed and then started working in an office. At age 30 I finally started college. I worked full time during the day, went to school at night. During this time, I also got married and had two sons. 10 years after my first college course, I finally graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Management. Shortly after my second son's birth I quit my job and started my own accounting practice from my home. 15 years later, I have a very successful practice with 2 employees and still work from home. I feel blessed to be able to have my career and be a stay at home mom too.

Why I am a Mormon

I just love the gospel of Jesus Christ! The teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ simply 'makes sense'. In John 10:12 Christ said "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice..." I know this meant the America's. Why would the savior of the world only visit and teach his gospel to a small section of the world? He loves all his children; and all his children, even those on this continent, knew of Christ's birth, death and resurrection. Moses, Noah and Isaiah were prophets and wrote the words of our Lord. Likewise, there were prophets in other parts of the world who also wrote the words of our Lord. The Book of Mormon are those writings of prophets on this contenant prior to and after Christ's life on earth. It stands as a second witness that Christ is the son of God and the savior of this world. This is just one of the teachings that I know to be true. Read 3 Nephi chapter 11 in the Book of Mormon, it tells the beautiful story of Christ visiting his children on this continent after his resurrection. then read Moroni 9:4. The Holy Ghost can manifest the truth of these things to you, just as it has me.

How I live my faith

One of the ways I live my faith is through service. Our church regulary has service projects that I get great joy from participating in. At the beginning of each school year, we get a list of children from the local school district that are low income and can't afford new school clothes. Bags are distributed to the members with the child's clothing size. The church members then purchase a new set of clothing for the children which are given back to the schools to distribute. Any other community project we do is neighborhood beautification. Through the city government, they will identify homes that need new paint, landscaping, etc. where the owners can't afford the upkeep. Then the members will get together on a week-end and paint the homes and put in new landscaping. We do other various projects like planting trees/flowers in local parks. All of the positions in the church are volunteer. My Bishop is not paid to be a bishop. He has a regular job which he goes to every day to support his family. Each member has a responsibility/job in the church. I am a secretary in our women's auxiliary called the Relief Society. Our presidency plans the Sunday meetings for the women, and other meetings through the week to help the women strenghten their homes and familly and their faith in Christ. We also provide service to each other such as bringing in meals to families when needed, assisting with child care and many other life events.
