Hi I'm Vernon!

I'm a Mormon. True Blue Died in the Wool!

About Me

I was born in a small town in Wyoming that was named after my Great Grandfather. My mother and father were great parents. I had two sisters and two brothers. I served 4 years in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. My ship (Hammer) was the first destroyer to be sent at the entrance of the Korean War. I met my beautiful wife at the Billings Montana Fair in a horse barn, the very day I joined the Navy. We were married the last year that I was in the Navy. We are the proud parents of 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren! My wife and I have been married for 60 years! I am a practicing attorney to this very day! I ride my bicycle 26 miles every day and truly enjoy the beautiful creations of God! I especially love to fly fish with my grandsons and spend time with the grand kids!

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know that the Book of Mormon is True – it really is the word of God! It is the foundation of my testimony of Jesus Christ. And to think that it all started with a 14 year old boy - Joseph Smith- who saw and conversed with God and His Son Jesus Christ! And I am so thankful that there is a Prophet of God on the earth today. I love the church; I love the members; I love the Temple; I love my wife and family; and I love the spirit of the Lord when it comes upon me and manifests the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

By helping others! I put into action the prophetic counsel that “when I am in the service of others, I am really in the service of God”. I have tried throughout my life to be a good husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, ball player, sailor, and attorney! In everything I do, I have done out of love for God and His Son Jesus Christ. I really do believe that our talents were given to us by God to help ourselves, our families and others in need. I am an active Home Teacher, a past Branch President and Bishop in the Church and have served as a counselor in three Bishoprics. I have diligently and faithfully served in every calling that has been extended to me!
