Hi I'm Mary

I'm a student, I'm a runner, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a Junior in college hoping to someday become a speech therapist. I love to run. I am obsessed with music of any genre, from classical to rap to country. I love old movies. I am always lost in a good book... or two or three. My family members are my best friends. Between school and work, church and friends, running and sleeping, I am working on learning how to play the piano. I also like to bake, and I like the people who pretend to enjoy what I bake!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm the only active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in my family. Deciding to go to church and have a relationship with Jesus Christ was a decision I got to make for myself at the young age of 14. I don't know where I would be today without my faith. Getting to where I am today wasn't easy. It was hard for me to stay on a good path and to know who I was, where I came from, and where I was going. I decided that I wanted to know what I was doing with my life. I wanted to find out for myself what was true. I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and got down on my knees and prayed to know if it was true. I cannot express in words the power, the peace, the love, the surety that I felt as I found out for myself that this is the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I know that God lives, that Jesus Christ is my savior, and the power of His atonement and resurrection. I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and that alongside the Bible, the scriptures help me know how I should live my life. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and I feel so blessed that we have modern-day prophets and guidance. The Gospel and this church bring so much joy to my life!

How I live my faith

What I love about being a Mormon is the people I associate with. Going to church is the highlight of my week! I love participating in service projects and leading music at church. I live my faith by trying to follow Christ's example. Every day I ask myself, how can I improve? I am always striving to live with more charity, more humility... the list could go on! I love going to classes during the week at an Institute of Religion right across the street from my University campus. I do my best to study the scriptures and pray every day so I can develop a better relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
