Hi I'm Holly

I have spent most of my life in the Arizona desert surviving the heat and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been an avid hiker for years until the arrival of our youngest child. After the baby was born having time for myself practically disappeared. My husband does a fantastic job being an active parent outside of his demanding job, but often times I find each and every free moment being consumed with daily responsibilities. It's been a big adjustment caring for the baby and keeping up with the needs of the older child as well, yet I do admit that children are the joy of life. One day when they are all grown there will be plenty of time for hikes and other activities. When I look back at my life down the road I know that the career and schooling I've accomplished won't equate to much without others (children and grandchildren) to carry on our legacy. We must teach them to be great people so that society will not crumble!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but this is not why I attend. I had to find it to be true on my own early on in life. Growing up I was constantly being told that I was wasting my time following a false church, that it was easy to follow something you were born into. Many of my childhood friends would attack my religion and pull out their bibles to show me how fallen I was. A common phrase that I heard was how close minded Mormon's were because we were 'unwilling' to interpret scriptures in the same way they do. These experiences led me to constantly search the scriptures and find out what was true and what was not. What most critics didn't realize is that it is not so easy to follow something blindly if you are a curious person and determined to only do things in life worth the effort. I am grateful that my parents taught me how to pray at an early age. Everything I have felt and learned in life of eternal significance has come to me through prayer. I continuously receive answers to prayer and know that not only is prayer the answer to interpreting scriptures, but it is also the solution to the frustrations that come my way. God has been very gracious to me and I have been truly blessed with good things throughout my life. I am so happy to know that I am a child of the most high God and that he will never forsake any of his children if we trust him and confide in him.

How I live my faith

I participate in the community by attending Sunday meetings and doing temple work as often as time permits. Additionally I am a visiting teacher; meaning I go and visit other women in the area that I am assigned to and see if they have any needs that I can meet; I share a lesson or a spiritual thought to help uplift their day.
