Hi I'm Kelly

I'm married to the man of my dreams. I'm the mother of 5 great kids. I'm a Crohns disease patient, party planner and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Thanks to my Mom's appetite for travel and adventure I have traveled to or through almost every state in the US. My parents loaded us up into the family wagon and off we went from one end of the country to the next. If there is a billboard for it we stopped to see it!! Through our travels I have come to love this great land we live in and I am sure it is why Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I went abroad after graduating from high school. Following that summer in the orient I returned home, spent a semester at college and then met my husband. We married and began our family. Due to my husbands career I continued to be blessed to travel and experience even more of what this great nation has to offer! Fast forward fifteen years and I now have five children, whom I adore, a husband who continues to be the man of my dreams, a beautiful home and great friends. I have had the oppurtunity to plan several weddings and other large events and enjoy wearing the event planner hat! There is something wonderful about sitting back, watching people have a great time and knowing you had a part in making it happen. Three years ago I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease which is an auto immune disease. I receive IV infusions every few weeks which will hopefully some day put my disease into remission. I love each new day that God gives me. I love the beauty that surrounds me and find immense joy in sharing that beauty with my family!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up my parents taught me that I had been in heaven before I came to earth. They testified that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and wants me to return home. I began to be homesick for this heavenly home. I would sit on our front porch swing and look into the sky and long to be home. As I grew older that longing turned to a desire to know that my Heavenly Father hadn't forgotten me. The words to a children's song would often enter my thoughts ,"Heavenly Father are you really there and do you hear and answer every child's prayer?". My fervent prayer was to be reasurred that I was known and loved by God. As I sought him through prayer, study of the scriptures, and service to others I was given a personal witness that Yes! God does know me. He knows my inner fears and desires. He loves me and wants me to be happy. He wants me to return home! I know that my Heavenly Father provided a way home through his Son, my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. As I have made mistakes and as life has brought sorrow and illness, I have gone to my Savior to help carry my burdens and bring peace to my soul. Without fail, He has been there! Someday I will kneel at his feet and not have the words to express the gratitiude in my heart for his sacrifice and continued love. I know that as in ancient days, Heavenly Father has provided us prophets, beginning with Joseph Smith and continuing to Thomas S. Monson. I am so thankful for their prophetic counsel. I have put into practice the teachings of these prophets and know that their teachings are from God to guide His children home. I believe the Bible and the Book Of Mormon to be testaments of Jesus Christ and his ministry on this earth. I know by studying these great books I come to know my Savior personally. I can learn of him and follow his example as I go through out this life. The Savior is my pathway home. I want to return to live with my Heavenly Father, my Savior and with my family forever. That is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the Saviors example of service to others. Service in my family has dominated my time as I am a mother of five, with 6 siblings and 19 neices and nephews. For my family I am a taxi driver, nurse, teacher, babysitter, chef, house keeper, party planner, dry cleaner, therapist and landscaper all pro bono! Service in the church has also been an essential part of living my faith. Over the years I have served in the church as the president of the organization in our local congregation for younger children. I have served the older youth by planning weekly activites for them as well as teaching them on Sunday. I have been able to use my event planning skills to organize events for the church. I have served women in the church by visiting them in their homes and checking on their temporal and spiritual needs. I have taught Sunday School for both youth and adults. I am so thankful for the oppurtunites of service being a Mormon has provided to me. I have also sought after oppurtunites to serve in the community. I have been able use my knowledge as a party planner to help a charity organization with its fundraising efforts. I have helped with the homeless in our community through donation as well as working at food banks. I have worked on projects to clean up the community. I have also collected items and delivered them to a battered women's shelter. Above all, I try to live my faith by smiling, waving, and speaking kindly to strangers. I try to help those around me that might need an extra hand, like reaching something that is too high on a shelf for someone else to reach, or helping a women out of the store who is carrying a crying baby. The unplanned acts of service and kindness are the moments I feel closest to my Savior. Those our the moments I know I am truley living my Faith!

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

I love politics. I watch political debates like they are the superbowl! I so appreciate that the church does NOT endorse any political party but encourages members to be part of the political process. I am grateful that I can be part of a faith that teaches me to find out for myself what is going on in the world and to lift my voice for or against what I believe. Show more Show less
