Hi I'm Sharon

I am a wife, a mom, an adoption advocate, a photographer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Army wife 4 siblings. We lived in Texas, Germany and Maryland before my dad retired from the service. We moved to Utah shortly afterwards and my parents divorced. Including my step-siblings, siblings from my parents marriage and 2 adopted siblings I am in the middle of 10 children. I became pregnant at the age of 15 and a mother at the age of 16. I was shortly after diagnosed with Endometriosis and told that I probably would never be able to have more biological children. A few years later I met the man who would become my husband. After 9 years of infertility we were blessed to grow our family through the gift of adoption. We enjoy a very open adoption with our youngest daughter's birth family. I am a college student, studying to become a photojournalist. I am a crafter, cake maker and photographer. I love my life and everyone in it. I am an adoption advocate and love to talk about it wherever and whenever I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I was actually raised in the church and baptized at the age of 8. I didn't grow up really believing that church was true though. I mean, I was told it was so I thought it was. But I didn't discover that for myself until I was in my very early 20's. I started investigating various churches including the LDS church. I found that nowhere did I find peace like I did when I came to the LDS church. I decided that even though I was already baptized I would seek out the missionaries and take the discussions. I went to institute (a class for adults where they learn more about the scriptures) and learned every bit of information I could. I realized that what I had been searching for was right in front of me. The Savior has played a big part in my life as has the atonement. I wouldn't be where I am today without such a blessing. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life but I have found true peace through the teachings of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I Live my faith in everything I do. I try to be an example to those around me. I have served the youth in our church and organized events for the women of our congregation. In our church we have callings, which are opportunities where we are called to serve the Lord and those around us. I don't have any callings right now but I do look for opportunities to help wherever I can and I anxiously await my next calling.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Although the correct name of our church is the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we are often referred to as Mormons. This is a nickname that was given to members in the early days of the church because of the Book of Mormon. We are also referred to as Latter Day Saints and LDS. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

In every sense of the word yes. We believe in our Savior Jesus Christ and in the Atonement. We believe he loved us so much that he died for our sins on the cross so that we could return to live with him again. Show more Show less
