Hi I'm Jon

I'm a husband, a father, an engineer, a computer enthusiast, a triathlete, a singer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have a baby boy. Before the birth of our son, my wife and I enjoyed training for and running in triathlons together. We hope to do so again soon. One of my great passions is singing. While I fall well short of professional, you will often find me involved with some choir or other musical production. I am thrilled with international travel and have enjoyed visiting many different countries. I enjoy creating videos of my travels to share with family and friends. Professionally, I am an engineer in the IT department of a company in the heart of the computer industry. I am passionate about computers and the computer industry.

Why I am a Mormon

There are two parts to this. How I became a Mormon, and why I remain a Mormon. The first part is simple. I was born into the faith. Both my parents are Mormon, and as a result, I learned the Mormon faith. But learning about it is very different than embracing it fully. The reason I remain a Mormon is because I believe that living the principles and doctrines of the church bring lasting happiness both in my life today and in my life to come. I've had many opportunities to choose a different path. But I find that as I live the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the church, I am a better man and a much happier man. And this realization increases my confidence that what I am doing is right. I see that what I am doing is based on correct principles that bring lasting joy. As I read the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, I find plain yet powerful truth. I feel clarity of understanding. I feel a yearning to know more, and to be a better man.

How I live my faith

I love my faith. I attend church regularly, where I help teach and administer to the various needs of local members. I also regularly sing in choirs, musicals, and other local productions about Jesus Christ. Most mornings, my wife and I read and discuss scriptures together. We also pray together and individually each day. And I strive to follow the principles of my faith: to be honest in my dealings with my fellow man, to be faithful to my wife, to take good care of my body by avoiding harmful substances and eating healthy ones, and to be kind, patient, and loving.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Jon
The gospel of Jesus Christ contains principles that lead to lasting happiness. Becoming and being self-reliant brings joy and self respect, and as such, it is and should be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ. There is a deeply satisfying feeling to being debt free with enough food and financial reserves to provide for your family in a time of need. It brings peace of mind and frees you to focus on other rewarding areas of life. Show more Show less
