Hi I'm Derek

I am a BYU graduate. I love most sports, but I like to golf, fish, and play basket-ball most and I am a mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 5 wonderful children, 4 boys and 1girl. I have been married to my wonderful wife for over 25 years. She loves gardening and running. I love most sports, either watching, playing or coaching. Together we love working hard and serving others and raising our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the principles taught in this church. The teachings help me to be a better person and to serve others. I believe that if I am obedient then I can be with my family forever. I have made many lifelong friends who are members of this church. As we share experiences and teachings, we grow together and stronger in our faith. I believe that I am a child of God and that He loves me and that He is looking out for me personally. I believe in the church leadership. We have a living prophet who is the Lord's mouthpiece in these latter days. I believe that if I follow the teachings of all the prophets, both ancient and modern day, then I will draw closer to my Heavenly Father, and that I will be happy while I am here on earth. I believe that God hears and answers my prayers.

How I live my faith

I would consider myself very active in my religion. I have had the blessing of serving in many leadership positions in the church. Each one of them has given me the opportunity to serve others and to be blessed and to learn and grow from others. Currently I am involved with the young men in our area. I get to work with boys from the ages of 12 to 19. This is very exciting and rewarding for me personally. I enjoy being with them. I enjoy their zeal for life and their motivation to make good choices. I feel there are many reasons to be worried for the future, but in working and knowing the youth, I feel there is great hope in the future.
