Hi I'm Amelia.

I am a native of Phoenix, Arizona (US). I'm Mormon and my passions are my family, religion, music therapy/teaching, and art.

About Me

I am a young mother of 1 child and incredibly blessed with a loving and supportive husband. My beautiful toddler daughter amazes me every day with her new abilities and personality! While marriage has significant challenges, I can honestly say that I’ve never been happier in my life. Family, church involvement, academics, and the Arts have been, and continue to be, very important to me. Growing up, I participated in softball, volleyball, swim team, and accelerated academic courses. My mother was my first piano teacher, and gave me a great foundation in music theory and supported me in my decisions to ultimately become a violist and a board-certified Music Therapist. My professional work experience includes: music therapy, orchestra, and art/drawing instruction with elementary school aged children with and without special needs. I also enjoy reading historical fiction as well as nonfiction relating to religion, music, the brain, family dynamics, and "healthy living".

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed with the opportunity to be born into an incredible family. My parents had a hard time conceiving, and I was truly a “miracle baby” born prematurely at 30 weeks weighing only 3 1lbs. 5 oz. As a child, I saw them as examples of faith, integrity, and hard work. They taught me to believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior, and to serve Him in His church through activity and service. I was strengthened in friendships and doctrine as I was immersed in the activities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: sacrament meetings, general conferences, Primary, Young Women’s, and Seminary. Despite my wonderful upbringing and heritage, the Holy Spirit has born witness to me MANY TIMES, in answer to direct questions and in quiet assurances, that The Church of Jesus Christ is true, that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was instrumental in the Restoration of the fullness of Christ’s Church and gospel, and that Christ continues to lead His church through prophetic leaders. With these witnesses or truths that I have been given, I could never deny my faith in Christ. All of this…is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Everyday I try to be the best mother for my daughter and a supportive partner to my husband. While my home is rarely “immaculate”, I strive to have cleanliness and orderliness a priority in my home so that it will be a safe haven/retreat from the world for my family and friends. I continue to develop my talents, musical and interpersonal, in church callings and in my personal/professional life. Currently, I am the Ward Choir Director in my church congregation. There is a scripture that says, “The song of the righteous is a prayer unto [the Lord].” Thus, it is a personal goal of mine to help the members of our ward choir (all volunteer) to “lift up their voices and sing” by bearing witness of Christ through their service of singing. Keeping up with my music therapy certification through continuing education also helps me to provide ethical, best professional services to my clients. I try to be friendly to every neighbor or stranger in the store I meet, for I know Christ would do at least that much.
