Hi I'm Sally

I'm a Mormon. I live in Maple Valley, Washington with my husband and four children. I love life!!

About Me

I am so grateful for the opportunity Heavenly Father has given me to be a wife and mother of four awesome children. Rearing children especially three lively boys and one even more lively girl definitely brings challenges but the blessings have far out-weighed the challenges. Some of the things I love to do are: running, playing the piano, hiking, musicals, cleaning, sharing the gospel, studying the gospel, teaching the gospel, sitting in the sun and participating in Handel's Messiah each year at Christmas time. We love to do snow sports and water-sports as a family and love to vacation to warm, sunny places.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that living the commandments and following God's plan of happiness ultimately brings me the happiness I enjoy each day. I feel I especially benefited from the gospel of Jesus Christ as a teenager, Christ's teachings helped me stay on a path that helped me make good moral decisions for my future. For example, the health and moral codes given us by our prophet has helped to keep me free from addictive substances and helped me to stay chaste and morally clean so that I was in the right frame of mind to make responsible decisions for my future. My choice to post-pone physical intimacy until after marriage helped me focus on the personality, values and depth of character of the young men that I dated which ultimately helped me make a good and lasting marriage decision. As a parent, it has been such a blessing to have the guidance of a living prophet in rearing our children. I don't know how we could have raised our children without the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been the foundation of our home and has made such a difference in the lives of our children. As challenges have come throughout our lives, there is peace in knowing we are on the path and that God is there for us. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the foundation for a happy life.

How I live my faith

One way I can serve in the church is to share my musical talents. I often have the opportunity to accompany individuals or groups for worship services on the piano or organ which is something I love to do. This is one way I feel I can contribute in a meaningful way. One of my favorite ways to serve however, is by teaching the songs of our Savior and Heavenly Father to the youth and small children. There is something very special that happens to my spirit when I sing those songs with them. I currently teach the Old Testament to the 15-16 year olds in early-morning seminary which begins at 6:10 every week-day morning. It is a great honor to teach such bright, handsome, humble and sweet teenagers. Although it is quite time consuming, I especially enjoy preparing the lessons. I am really enjoying the opportunity it gives me to ponder important gospel principles and teachings. I know I am benefiting from this experience more than the students. I also enjoy serving through the Visiting Teaching program. This is a program in which I am assigned three or four women from our congregation for whom I care for and watch over. They are my friends and I have enjoyed getting to know so many wonderful women through this program. I also feel it is important to serve in the community. Each year I set a goal to do some type of service in the community. Last year was asked to play the keyboards for the high school musical "Children of Eden". I absolutely loved the score and loved working with the music director and the other musicians.
