Hi I'm Katie Duffy

I am an outdoor enthusiast, music lover, aunt, journal keeper, new college student, soon-to-be sister missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently reside in Provo, Utah where I am attending Brigham Young University for my undergraduate studies. I am originally from Maple Valley, Washington where I spent all of my life. In my family, I am the youngest to three older brothers who are all married and have children. In my free time, you can find me outside. I might be boating, running, hiking, canoeing, biking, mountaineering, scootering, roller blading, or swimming. A secret hobby that I have is cooking for my family and creating things in the kitchen. Currently I am studying music with an emphasis in vocal performance at BYU but I will be putting my education on hold for a year and a half to serve a mission in Southern Europe. I have been called to serve in the Adriatic North Mission and I couldn't be more thrilled to serve the people in the countries of Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia and Montenegro.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know that these teachings are true! As I have prayerfully sought for answers to questions that have arose, I have found overwhelming peace that the things that I read and learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ are true teachings and will only bring me more happiness as I live them more fully. But most importantly I know God lives and I know that He loves me I want to please Him. And as I live the gospel more fully I know that I am doing what He desires most; for us to draw near unto Him as He draws near unto us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by making the gospel of Jesus Christ a priority in my life. I strive to stay close to my Heavenly Father by communicating with Him each day through personal prayer and draw nearer to Him by reading from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. As I have read the scriptures and more importantly lived by their teachings I have found that I am able to live my faith more fully as I follow what is taught by the Lord and His prophets. I also live my faith by serving those who have already passed on from this life by doing family history and temple work. I have found that as I serve in the house of the Lord and provide necessary ordinances for those that have passed on, just as it is discussed in the Bible, I am able to leave more fully motivated to live my faith and inspired to share this good news with those still on the earth. Another way I live my life is by striving to share the pure love of Christ with those around me. Whether that is simply serving others, picking up garbage around the community, sharing my time with those that need it, or writing notes to people that mean so much to me, I can feel myself coming closer to my Savior and feel His approval as I share my love for His other children.
