Hi I'm Kathy O'Neill

I am a mother of 7 children living in Morgan HIll, CA. I am a substitute teacher for the Morgan Hill schools, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 49 year old mother of 7 children and a substitute teacher in my kids' schools. I have a Bachelor's degree in Humanities from BYU, which has helped me with all the many term papers, reading and art project the kids have done over the years. I also went to Study Abroad in Vienna, Austria during college and was able to live abroad and travel for 6 months. My mother is from Salzburg, Austria and my father is from Denmark. My hobbies are playing the piano and reading books. I also play the organ for my church and the piano for church choir. For many years I chose to stay home with the children and be a full time mother, but just started back to work in the schools when my youngest started kindergarten. I feel the children have greatly benefited from having me at home, and I wouldn't have it any other way! My youngest is now in 5th grade, and my oldest is 27, and I have one grandaughter. Two of my children have served in the military, and 3 have served as full time missionaries for our church, in Germany, Russia and Brazil. When I am not in the schools, you will find me on a soccer field or gymnasium somewhere in town, as all my kids are very atheletic. But on Sundays you will always find me at church or at home with my family. It is our favorite day of the week!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS church. I have been taught from my youth to love and serve God first and then love my neighbor as myself. I was taught to keep the commandments of God found in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me raise my large family and given my children a strong foundation on which to build their lives on. They have also been surrounded by wonderful role models, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders and strong families whom they can model their lives after. They attend seminary (gospel studies) every morning before high school, which has helped them to really know and understand the scriptures and their faith. I would recommend this church to anyone! Read the Book of Mormon and decide for yourself! No man could have written such a book. And if that book is true, then the Gospel of Jesus Christ really has been restored, it's that simple! Read it and find out. You and your family will come closer to God and to each other.

How I live my faith

Along with substitute teaching in the schools, I am extremely active in the local ward of our Church. I am the organist, choir pianist, Webelos Scout leader, and have taught Sunday School, the women's and youth organization. I love how this church has no paid ministry and allows everyone to get involved! If we just showed up and expected to be taught and entertained, we would not grow as we have. Every member of my family actively participates each Sunday, and because of this we are forced to study the scriptures and really understand our faith so that we can teach and share it with others. This is especially true for my 3 sons who served full time, 2 year missions. They earned the money themselves, put aside college or other worldly pursuits for 2 years and served the people of Brazil, Russia and Germany without pay. What a great example to the other youth their age, as well as to their siblings!
