Hi I'm Niel

I'm a father of six. I enjoy music and gardening. I'm a senior systems analyst in healthcare systems. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Arizona, grew up in Utah, then served a mission for my church. I completed a BS in Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science. Then I got married and started a family. I completed a masters program in Public Administration at Brigham Young University and absolutely loved my time in Provo. After my education I worked in Economic Development, then Human Resources, then sales, and now as a Senior Systems Analyst for a large healthcare organization in the Northwest since 1998. I really enjoy my job and experience great satisfaction in knowing that I am contributing something of value to my community and beyond. My greatest joy comes from being a husband and father. I lke working in the yard, taking walks in our neighborhood, listening to music and spending time with my family. And I really like dark chocolate too!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church I wasn't born with a conviction that it was true. I believe we each should gain our own personal conviction that the church is true, regardless of our background and upbringing. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints can offer amazing things to bless our lives, but a personal witness that it's true helps a person to live the standards and receive all the blessings of membership in Christ's church. As I got closer to the time when I would serve a mission I needed to know for myself it was true before I could teach others about the church. So I got serious about it and made it a matter of personal study and sincere prayer to find out for myself. After much time, study and prayer I remember the sweet feeling of the Holy Spirit confirming to me that it was indeed true. I've felt that same spirit hundreds of times since throughout my life, reconfirming that Jesus is the Christ, my Savior, everyone's Savior, and that I'm doing the right thing. The church has helped me to be a better husband and father. The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought much joy to my family. Jesus Christ has been an anchor in my life as I've gone through many struggles and challenges. He is my rock.

How I live my faith

I currently volunteer many hours each week to serve in a supportive role with a wonderful man who has been called to lead about 3800 members in our geographical area. I am responsible for managing all the membership records, finances and technology for our area. My eye witness experiences in this capacity are a testimony to me that the Lord directs this work - He truly is in charge. He works through ordinary men and women to carry forward His work. These people are your neighbors, average men and women who are imperfect, but are trying to do the right thing. One of my favorite things about this church is General Conference. Twice a year, in April and October, the entire worldwide church - and anyone else who wants to listen - has the opportunity to hear a Prophet and Apostles speak. They give inspired counsel to help us make choices that will bring greater joy and happiness to our lives. They help us understand correct principles to guide our lives. We learn by trial and error, by our choices and experiences, that what these wise inspired men teach is right and true.
