Hi I'm Matt Coffin

I grew up in the South. I am a biology student, rock climber, and football enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the humid air of Louisiana. It was there I developed a love for delicious foods (cajun, creole, Bluebell, king cake, crawfish), swamps, Saints football, thunderstorms and good hospitality. Many of my days were easy going and wonderful, and I soaked it up. Now, as a biology student headed towards nursing, school occupies much of my time. It can be hard juggling school, family, church, work and play, but when I have my priorities set right, things always work out for the best.

Why I am a Mormon

There isn't an aspect of my life that the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ hasn't affected for the better. Knowing who I am, what my purpose is in this life, and where I am going when I die is a true blessing. Mostly, understanding that I am a child of God and am filled with His divine potential allows me to be more than I could be by myself. I grew up a member of the LDS faith and I have continued to nurture that faith through my life. It hasn't always been easy, and I haven't always been rock solid, but my faith in Jesus Christ and His Gospel has motivated me to continue applying my faith unto action. Through prayer, scripture study, and personal revelation, I have come to know that God does in fact still speak to men on earth. He has appointed a prophet, just as He did in the Old and New Testament times, to direct the affairs of His Kingdom on the earth today. Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet of God, and he receives revelation for the entire world. There are 12 apostles on the earth, now! in this day and age! Through fervent prayer, I have come to know that the Book of Mormon is in fact another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that He lives! He is our Rock and our Salvation. By no other name can we return to live with our Father in Heaven than by Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Scripture study and prayer with my wife has helped me grow in my understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has better prepared me to serve those around me. We have the opportunity to teach Sunday School to the adults in our ward. In this class, we discuss the doctrine of the Gospel through the scriptures. I strive to be an example of my faith by striving to be like Christ and fulfilling my divine potential.
