Hi I'm Matthew Hanks

Born and raised in Colorado, I love adventuring, rugby, dogs, and cooking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Colorado. Therefore, I love being outside. High School Graduate of 2015 and now serving the Lord and the people of Singapore/Malaysia on a mission! (Malay speaking) I am very interested in the medical field. I am hoping to begin education for that when I return in 2017. I am unsure of which area exactly but I have thought about studying optics, neurology, or a specific rare cancer that has been effecting my brother which was caused because of his treatment of chemotherapy from a previous cancer. Since it is such a rare cancer, I want to be able to explore it and find ways to treat it effectively. Through my faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I have had hope. Hope that I know that by the Lord's will, we can all be truly happy for that is his role as a good father. Give us a way to go about life in happiness. That's one of many reasons why I love this Gospel. I love sports, music, singing, anything outside really. Camping with my Chihuahuas is a hobby. I am an Eagle Scout. Rugby State Champion of Colorado. I unicycle, bowfish, mountain bike, and all that good stuff. I have really grown an appreciation for life recently so I just really have a love for everything. I like going out to Taco Bell at midnight and I love searching out the best chocolate milk in town.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon for many reasons. One I love personally and love sharing with other people is the truth of eternal families. The knowledge that I can always live with my family after this life is a wonderful thing. The knowledge that I can marry a beautiful girl to love and cherish way beyond after this life, is an incredible truth and will always bless me. The Book of Mormon tells of how through the resurrection, death has no sting. I have felt that truly. Having a loved one pass is difficult, but is made easier and loses its "sting" because of the knowledge you can have of that loved one will live again. You will see them again. Death has no sting. I am a Mormon because I have seen how this gospel has blessed my life. I have witnessed for myself that coming close to God helps you understand many things and see how you can improve to become truly happy. I never really grew to appreciate it until I took the time to discover it for myself. Now that I know how much I can use the Gospel of Jesus Christ to help others and have a greater hope in my life, I am so much happier and I know that the Gospel has greatly impacted my life in the most positive ways.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to follow the example of Jesus Christ. As a missionary, I have to humble myself and learn to teach and convert people through the spirit. I have discovered that the way I can be successful is asking help from my Heavenly Father and studying the words of the prophets and teachings of Christ in scripture. Being a missionary is the hardest thing I have ever done. I have had to rely on my faith in God, pray, and the support of my family to help me get through any trying time in my life. We learn from the scriptures that by allowing ourselves to follow God's plan and commandments, he will allow us to discover our weaknesses and make them strong. In effect, we can be more successful and more happy in our life. God knows all things and knows each person personally. So, He knows the way we can be truly and fully happy in our life. I have discovered that as I educate myself in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I gain a better understanding of life and the many events that shape it. I have gained an appreciation for things I never thought I would because I can now see how I have grown from them. The thing is, you will always have weaknesses. That is why you must be constantly trying to bring yourself closer to God and always learning of the full Gospel so that He can more weaknesses become strong and you can become a greater servant to Him.
