Hi I'm Kelene

I am a Business Major. I am twenty-one years old. I paint, I draw, I sing, I dance, I run. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

Buenos Dias! My name is Kelene, I'm from Arizona (but all over so don't ask where) and I have been going to Utah State University for the past two years. I love trying new things. My motto is give everything a try, never say no to something you haven't tried. Over the past few years I've tried everything from long-boarding to rock-climbing to speaking Spanish to eating flan in a corn tortilla. I love experiencing life. My favorite things to do are singing (Soprano), trailblazing with my best friend, cooking crazy new things, and helping people come out of their shell. But then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked (or should I say the fire of the Holy Ghost). Now I am serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am called to serve in the Chesapeake Virginia Mission, speaking Spanish. So here I am, consecrating my life to the Lord for the next 18 months. It's a grand adventure, and every day I get to share the gospel with those who are ready to hear it. And I love it, every minute.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I don't know that I would be here without this gospel. It is a pure and logical and emotional reason to serve and to live and to be. Being part of this church helps me to help others, which in turn lets God help me. I love this gospel so much. It's true. Even when you have your doubts, know that it is true. and it always will be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living with people. We were never made to be alone, and this gospel gives us the opportunity to make real and genuine connections with others. There's no reason to be a separated people. We are all one in the kingdom of God, and I know that if we make the effort, we can feel that. I don't expect to make people change, but maybe if I can change myself to be a little more like Christ each day, I can help someone, anyone, come closer to Him. I like to smile at people, and wave at them, especially if I don't know them. Connecting to people and really serving, not asking for any reward or recognition, is one of the ways I like to live my faith. Taking care of people is one of my hobbies, so watch out, because I'll probably bring dinner over!

What is faith?

Faith is lovely. It is your personal conviction to believe in Jesus Christ. It is trust in the knowledge that He does exist and that He loves you. Faith is not a perfect knowledge. When perfect knowledge exists, the necessity for faith is absent. Alma 32:18 says, "Now I ask, is this faith? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for if a man knoweth a thing he hath no cause to believe, for he knoweth it." Faith is an active decision to believe. Faith is also to act on your belief in God and in Jesus Christ. As it says in James, faith without works is dead. In order for you to demonstrate your faith in Jesus Christ you must use it to act, and to change, and to become more. Accept His invitations, and develop those Christ-like attributes that will bring you closer to Him. Show more Show less
