Hi I'm Kent

I grew up on a farm in Idaho. I have a great family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my wife for 23 years and have 4 children. My oldest son in serving in Afghanistan and has been miraculously preserved by the Lord numerous times. I love this country and the freedoms it provides. I enjoy my career of over 20 years which enables me to serve others daily. I enjoy all types of sports and the outdoors. I have been involved in the Boy Scouts of America in one form or another for most of my life. I am an Eagle Scout and continue to enjoy my association with the BSA.

Why I am a Mormon

I’m a lifelong member of the church. My ancestors joined the church in Europe and migrated to Utah with the Saints. They assisted in the settling of the west and southern Utah. As a child growing up I was taught the principles of the gospel and how to live a Christ centered life. I grew up in a very large and close family, consisting not only of my immediate family but also many aunts, uncles and cousins. I enjoyed a close relationship with them by working with them in my youth and also attending school with them. I remember during the summers we would all gather together on the farm to read scriptures and exercise before being given our daily work assignments. I remember well getting up early in the morning with my dad and brother to milk the cows. It is with fond memories I recall bucking hay, feeding the calves, weeding the corn and the many other chores that go along with living on a dairy farm. Those days instilled in me a love of work and of family. The gospel of Jesus Christ was always at the center of my life as a child and youth. My parents and family applied the values and principles of the gospel in our everyday life, which made for a very happy and safe upbringing. I served a mission in Alabama and loved it. I met many great people and had many experiences that shaped my life for good. Serving a mission was priceless in what it taught me and in strengthening my testimony of Christ. I married my wife in an LDS temple and have 4 wonderful children. The gospel continues to play a central roll in my life. Life is hard and has many challenges. I know that having the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life makes me a better person, a better husband and a better father. Throughout the challenges of life I have always been able to turn to the Lord. His teaching and his infinite love have strengthened me and enabled me to move forward. I love the Lord and his gospel.

How I live my faith

I am far from perfect, but I try to live my faith every day. The basic values and morals of a Christian life guide me and my family each day. Through membership in the church I have had to opportunity to work with adults and youth alike in many different ways. From the many nights spent on overnight scout outings to the many hours spent visiting and talking to others who are suffering through the various trials of life, the gospel of Jesus Christ has been and is a source of strength for me. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I know His gospel will guide me in all the paths of life and it is only through the gospel of Jesus Christ that I or my family will find true happiness in this life.
