Hi I'm Sharon

I teach at-risk students. I got my BA in Ed at age 44. I love to garden. I'm a wife, mom, and grandmother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I received my BA in Education at age 44. I received my Masters in Ed 6 years later. I teach at a learning center. I teach below poverty level, at-risk dropouts. Most of my students are young misguided youth. I believe every child has the light of Christ and I never give up on a student. I have lost two students to gang related deaths. I have a former student in the hospital now with a life-threatening gun shot wound. My students know I love them and I accept them for who they are. I make hand crocheted baby blankets for my teen-aged moms. I prayed to the Lord to give me a job where I could serve Him the most. He gave me my present job. When I have a bad day or a student is having a particular bad experience, I remember the Lord gave me this job. I pray for my students and act on inspiration from the Holy Ghost each and every day. I love my job.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ. I know He loves me. I am his daughter. I joined the Church as a young child when my mother joined the Church. I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon as a teenager. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the Church is true. This knowledge has been revealed to me by the Holy Ghost. I know we are led by a living prophet today. I know Jesus lives. I know if I will keep His commandments and serve Him, I will earn the privilege of returning to His presence when I die. My husband and I have been married and sealed in the temple. Our children are sealed to us. In the eternities we will be a family unit because we have been sealed in the temple. Families are forever.

How I live my faith

I live each day to serve the Lord. The students I teach do not feel they have any self worth. I give them love and understanding. When a student leaves my learning center, either with a GED or chooses to drop out again, they leave with the knowledge Mrs. Cox loves them. I will continue to serve them with all my heart, mind, and strength. This is how I serve the Lord and live my faith.
