Hi I'm cindy

I live in the NW, I practice Yoga, I teach high school English, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

This summer our family camped and hiked down the California coast, stopping at the southern Oregon coast, the Redwoods, and down to Disney land, across to the Grand canyon, to Utah, and home to Washington. Winters I like to visit the mountains and sled, cross-country ski, snow shoe, and make gingerbread houses with my children, husband, brother, mother, and friends. I have just gone back to teaching Humanities part time and love teaching Shakespeare, Chaucer, and the Romantic poets.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon in my mid-20s. I wanted to read the Book of Mormon to better understand my husband's faith. I had been raised in a family that attended the Presbyterian church regularly and Jesus Christ was an important influence in my home. As I read the Book of Mormon I found myself more and more intrigued. As I started becoming more curious I didn't want my husband to know I was reading as I wanted the decision to be my own. When after several months I finished reading, I asked someone from church some questions, and After much prayer I made my decision and told my husband. His eyes welled up.

How I live my faith

I have now been a Mormon for over 20 years! I have had such strong experiences that strengthen my faith and help me in times of joy and in times of sorrow. I have learned deeper compassion and patience as I have served those in need of comfort, many times holding hands and crying with those in hard times. I felt the love of ward families when my father died, as they helped with the funeral, visited when I needed others, and fed my family when i was overwhelmed. Reading the Bible and Book of Mormon on a daily basis keeps me close to my savior and helps me remember how much he loves me. I now work with youth- going to camp, youth conference, youth church dances, and Sunday classes. This is a joyful time as the youth share their love of God and are a great example to me.
