Hi I'm Shelby

I grew up in Arizona. I am living the roller coaster of being a college student. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 19 year girl who grew up in the sweaty desert of Mesa Arizona with my parents and 3 older siblings. (Yes, I am the baby of the family.) I am a college student in Arizona and am majoring in the widespread field of nutrition. Nutrition is important to me because I am an avid marathon runner who needs to be careful about what I am putting into my body. The excitement of crossing the finish line of a marathon is an experience I love, but one that I need to be prepared for physically and mentally. I find happiness in coming unto Christ, being with my family (especially my baby niece), and constantly trying to better myself.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know it is the only true church on the earth. It brings me the endless happiness I need in my life and helps me work through every trial I have. It teaches me why I am here, and where I am going. Without this knowledge of the gospel I would not be the person I am. The teachings of Jesus Christ will help me to go back to Heavenly Father someday, which is the ultimate gift.

How I live my faith

Moment by moment I live my faith. I live my faith by constantly having a prayer in my heart and reading scripture stories that I can then apply to my life. I choose to only partake of things that are good for my body so I can treat it like a creation of God. I also choose to only involve uplifting things in my life that will help me learn to be a more righteous daughter of God. Each day I try to be better than I was yesterday by utilizing the Atonement because I have faith that the Savior suffered and atoned for my sins and shortcomings. I try to be a force for good and make everyone feel loved. Serving others and being willing to put the needs of others' first is another way I live my faith. I know that when I serve others I am serving God.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

We need to take care of our bodies because God created them and so we are children of God. Drinking and doing drugs will only harm our bodies and will never make our life better. When we are active and eat better foods, we will feel good, and be able to do everything that we need to accomplish. If we are tired and feel sick, we can't be our happiest self and fulfill God's work. Show more Show less
