Hi I'm David

I love my family and know they can be mine forever! I spend my free-time enjoying sports and creating stuff. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Amongst many things, I am a husband, a father, and a Mechanical Engineer. I'm a pretty regular guy that loves to enjoy time with my family, play sports, watch TV, and use computers to create and design stuff. I'm currently a Texan, but have lived in the West, Mid-West, and even Japan.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that truth exists and that it must be eternal. I am Mormon because I believe God is the source of this eternal truth, and that he has revealed and continues to reveal this truth to mankind through prophets and apostles. I reject the notion that this life is a mere random existence without purpose or direction, but believe as stated in Romans 8:16 that "... we are the children of God" and as such have an eternal relationship with God who is our Heavenly Father. For this reason I believe we all have a divine potential and trust that "if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ" (Romans 8:17). It brings peace to my soul to feel and know that through Fatherly love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to prepare a way that we might overcome sin and death in order to return and live with Him again. I truly believe that Christ is not only my Savior, but my Friend, and my Brother. I trust that if I exercise faith in Him and do the things He has asked me to do, that He will keep His promise to make up my shortcomings and perfect me through His grace and mercy. Although I come from a long heritage of believers and followers of Christ, I am Mormon not because of tradition, but because these eternal truths have been confirmed to me through the Spirit of God again and again throughout my life.

How I live my faith

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds me to "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". Although I'm nowhere near this ideal, I try to live my faith by trusting in the Lord through keeping His commandments. This means, among other things, that I try to go to church each week, pray and read scriptures such as the Bible and the Book of Mormon each day, and abstain from participating in or partaking of things that the Lord has warned as being harmful to my body and spirit. It also means I dedicate some of my time or other means to help serve and uplift others around me as best I can. I currently serve in a church brotherhood organization focused on men ages 18 and up that aims to promote gospel principles and provide spiritual and temporal assistance to others in need.
