Hi I'm Michael

I'm from Enumclaw, WA. I'm a Huskies fan. I'm a soon to be father and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the small town of Enumclaw, WA about 35 miles southwest of Seattle. After a great childhood and an entertaining adolescence (as most are), I left home and served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Carolina. It was the most rewarding and trying time of my life. I learned to work hard, practice humility, love people, be a man, and most importantly to trust in the Lord:) When I returned home I headed to BYU and studied Construction Management. While at school I met a wonderful, amazing woman. We were married and after a few entertaining summers of selling pest control in Omaha, NE, I graduated and we moved back home to Washington. I'm working for a local home builder and loving every minute of being a husband and a soon to be Dad:) Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that without my faith I am nothing. I was born into the church to a wonderful family that was sealed in in the temple. My mother joined the church after years of assistance from my grandfather. In doing so she brought my Dad back to activity and the rest is history. While my family was strong I struggled through my teenage years to live and truly believe the gospel. Luckily for me my parents poured a solid foundation so that when the trials came I know where to turn. I was also blessed to see two very opposing paths to follow... One of my brothers lived the gospel and had a wonderful wife, family and career. My other brother did not, and had many difficulties and challenges. The only difference I could see was their commitment to the gospel. I decided that whether right or wrong, the gospel led to happiness. I my the choice to follow my faith and serve a mission. As it always goes, when I made that leap of faith I was given more blessings then i could handle. I cannot express the happiness that the gospel brings to me everyday. I have been given witness after witness to its truthfulness. The church is true, no doubt about it. If it can turn this kid from Enumclaw into an instrument in the Lords hand, it can do anything:)

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving with all my heart might mind and strength. The most rewarding thing we do in life is to lose ourselves in the service to others. I've been able to have many callings/assignments in the church that have given me the opportunity to serve. Currently I'm blessed to be a part of the Young Men/Scouts program in my local ward/congregation. I get to look after, advise, and enjoy eight 12-13 year boys. It may not sound very fun but it is a blast! I get to spend every Wednesday night doing Boy Scout and other youth activities. I help them build relationships as a group, so that when confronted with challenges and struggles they can band together for strength. I get to go camping with them every month and listen to their struggles and achievements and help understand what living the gospel is, what being an example is and what being a leader is. I get to spend my Sundays with them. Teaching the gospel and bearing my testimony of its truth. I get to see them feel the spirit and know that one day they can lean on that faith and it will help them overcome the troubling world in which they live. It's tiring, but very rewarding:) I also live my faith my practicing what I preach. Being a Mormon isn't a walk in the park, but it is the most wonderful blessing I have in my life. It is helping me slowly become the man, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, leader etc. the lord wants me to be. I just pray that I can live up to the task:) With Christ all things are possible.
