Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a mother of 3 kids and I love it! I also teach preschool. I lowve the sun and enjoy being active and social. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah for most of my childhood. As a family we did get the chance to live in Germany when I was just 5 while my dad worked as a lawyer for the LDS church. He was able to assist in helping set up for the building of the Freiburg and Frankfurt Temples there. We often would travel while I grew up and I had the great chance to visit many states and countries. I attended all 3 church colleges- Ricks (now BYU-Idaho), BYU and BYU-Hawaii and graduated with a degree in Special Education. I served a mission in Moscow Russia and came to absolutely love the people I met there. After my mission I lived in the metropolitan Washington DC area where I taught K-3rd grade. While living there I met my husband. We have been married now for 9 years and have lived in VA, HI and AZ. We have 3 children that we adore. I have taught in the public schools for 9 years and an in home preschool for 3 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the the church, so it really has been all that I have known. When I was 12, I really had a desire to know if the church was true and if what I had learned since I was young was really the right thing for me. I remember reading my scriptures one night and having an overwhelming feeling come over me that everything I had learned about Jesus and the scriptures was true. From this time, I have had many little and big experiences that have absolutely confirmed to me that this church is true. I have found so much comfort in the messages I have heard at church, in the scriptures and through my knowledge of the Savior. I find so much happiness in my life knowing that God loves me, that I have a Savior who gave his life so I can repent of my sins and be clean. I remember once when I had done something I felt very guilty about. It ate at me, more than I even realized. I had tried to go through the correct channels to repent of my sins, but I just wasn't feeling that I was forgiven. Finally I talked to one of my leaders and they reminded me of the sacrifice of our Lord and how it really made forgiveness real. All of the guilt and heaviness of my actions was truly lifted and I felt complete happiness. What a great blessing this is! I know that my Savior lives and that he loves me. I know that we are here on this earth with a purpose and a plan. I know that God will bless us when we follow his counsel. I'm grateful for a prophet who can give us modern day revelation that can lead us in making wise decisions for ourselves and our children. I love what the gospel does for my children. I love what they learn about being a good person, making good choices and doing things that benefit society. I love that they know they have a Savior who loves them and that they know they can pray for guidance and support. This gospel is wonderful!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by doing those things that are right. I try to be kind to my neighbors and to raise my kids in a way that they will do those things that will bless the lives of those around them. I try to be an example of what I believe. At church I lead the music for the congregation. This has been a new experience for me since I'm not an expert at music. It has been a neat experience though and I have learned a lot. Previously I have worked with children and with the young women by teaching them at church. Since I have taught for so many years, it is always such a neat experience to teach about Jesus and the gospel.
