Hi I'm Rene.

I enjoy the peace and adventure of camping by a creek. I'm a teacher. I've sung at Carnegie Hall. I love Christmas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my job because I teach students music and watch them shine. I write lyrics. My quiet respite is camping in the wilderness. I have a masters degree in teaching. I tend to fight for causes. For example, I campaigned to get door to door postal service in a small community I once lived in. Success! I am very patriotic. Much of my family has served in the military. I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Although, I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life, I still had to convert. I wanted to know for sure if Joseph Smith really was a prophet and if the Book of Mormon was true. I really wanted to know if my Heavenly Father did love me. I'm always seeking truth and I test it. This journey taught me the great power of two- way communication in prayer with my Father-in-Heaven. I follow His gospel because I need my Father in Heaven as a confidant and guide. His power and the sweet love and peace I feel from him in times of worry, sorrow, and joy is my daily breathe. Because of His gospel, I know His plan for me, for us. Because of my Savior's atonement, Satan will be destroyed, the earth will receive its paradisical glory and Jesus will reign on this earth. Best of all, through His love, my family will be reunited for eternity.

How I live my faith

My church has a lay ministry. This includes all work that needs to be done at any time. For example, I play the organ for free. Several years ago, I was asked by another denomination to play the organ for them and received $50 each time. This was a surprise. I've taught in church but mostly I've played the piano, organ, and sung. This is how I give in church. In the past, I participated and helped organize church talent shows, musicals, and worked in the scouting program teaching boys Native American art and dance. I liked organizing family history and getting to know my ancestors. One my children is named after one of these fascinating people. I've worked in the emergency preparedness arena. California had a water shortage. I was asked to learn and teach about home water conservation. There is plenty to do and its great!
