Hi I'm Mike

I was born in Berkley California. I'm a software developer. I'm a gun nut. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in San Jose, CA and lived with an upper middle class family. I went to a private middle school and a urban high school. I've also lived in Idaho, Mississippi, Louisiana, and now live in Texas. I got to live in New Orleans before Katrina. I luckily went to a good college despite having terrible high school grades. I have friends of all types as I seem to be able to make most people laugh. I know we live in times where much is changing every day. I am grateful for the stable ground of my faith and hope that people can learn to live with each other though we are different.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon, but didn't really become one until I was 19 years old. All I can say is that I've had good times and dark times. Times I lived for God and times I lived for me. And in both cases I found that life itself testified to me that God is real and life has rules, and I needed to change some things. I believe that every one has something beyond simple logic for obtaining a knowledge of good and bad. Things are not always simple, but some things are certain. To try and live a good life is hard... every time... and living for selfishness is easy. But one leads to true joy and the other leads to emptiness. To me that testifies that there is something smarter than me out there. And I think it's God. I think that this life has a natural set of rules to follow. God already follows them and he wants me to follow them too. I think that we have to live by faith so we can see what we are made of when faced with life's choices. I know that our heart, in the end, is the only thing that can lead us to truth. I know that God lives and he gave his Son so we could pass life's test with a clean soul. I know that living for God is not easy, but that also is just another thing that shows it's right and true.

How I live my faith

I live my life one day at a time. Things are hard but I can feel the Lord supporting me. As for my calling at church, I teach little 3 year old boys about God and our families. It can be hard but it is very rewarding. From time to time I realize how close to God little children are. To them it is so natural to love without holding back and to have sensitive feelings. Things are simple to a child. There aren't any loopholes and gray areas. They are usually quick to forgive. I am grateful for their example to me in my life.
