Hi I'm Madeline

An avid reader and creative writer, an only girl, a slow and steady runner, and a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into a family of six; two loving parents and four elder brothers, who were and continue to be an example to me. Two younger siblings quickly followed, leaving me the only daughter in a family of nine. Though I grew up quite tomboyish, a more "feminine" side has begun to shine through. I now find myself an odd mixture of both; chick flicks and skirts, sword fights and adventure...I seem to have a never ending stream of energy when it comes to exploring the world. I love every aspect of it, girly and non, and if I could I would spend every moment to my dying day delving into the depths of its mysteries. I am currently living two states from home as I study the art of creative writing - a passion I hope will fill my future.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born into this church and baptized at 8, it took me many years to understand the blessing I had been given. While the road to testimony has been bumpy and the path to understanding hard, it has likewise led me to the most rewarding moments in life thus far. I am far from perfect and far from the end, but faith in God and knowledge of the truth keeps me standing strong.

How I live my faith

I am currently preparing to further live my Faith by serving a mission for the Church. I am still a year away from departure, but preparation starts now and I plan to make the most of my time till then.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Madeline
There is a false belief that to be Mormon means to be perfect. I am not perfect. We are not perfect. None of us are perfect. While we all strive to live our lives in the most wholesome manner we are able, it is impossible for us to live sinless lives. We are all human. But we are all also Children of God: a loving Heavenly Father who has given us the opportunity to live in happiness and joy, regardless of the pain and misery that surrounds our daily 'sin-filled' lives. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provides us with the tools and guidelines we need to stay in those bounds of happiness and joy and fight off the troubling spirits of sin and misery. We may not be perfect, nor is our lifestyle, but God is perfect - and I truly believe that this is his perfect Gospel. I know that through keeping his commandments and following the teachings of Christ set forth in his Gospel I have grown closer toward absolute joy than I could have ever thought possible. Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Madeline
Why? Why that answer is simple: short and sweet! We have a blessing, something spectacular - the most wonderful blessing anyone could ask for! We have the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ; an understanding of why we are here and what we have to look forward to. We have joy - a joy that belongs to every man. This is how we share that joy - missionary work. It's one of the most important gifts we can give back to our Father in Heaven; the happiness of his sons and daughters - the joy of his children.
