Hi I'm Jennifer

I'm living the life of a grad student's wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the Southwestern United States. After living for a few years in both Virginia and Utah, I moved with my husband to Georgia for his graduate program. While in Virginia, I met a family from southeast Asia. They were living in the United States and were desperately trying to learn English. I saw the difference that knowing English could make in their day-to-day lives and I knew that I wanted to help others like them. Since then, I earned a degree in Linguistics/TESOL and now work part-time teaching ESL to international students and I LOVE it! In my down-time, I love to read, bake, and eat what I baked. I love to travel and have a dream to one day visit Barcelona, Spain.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. Being a young adult, I have several friends who have tried to find happiness in the world. After several years, most of them are still looking for happiness and peace. I can remember a time when I also thought finding happiness meant I needed to follow the world's formula for it. In my early twenties, I discovered that the world's formula for happiness didn't work and I immersed myself in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I finally found the happiness and peace that I wanted all along. I know that allowing Christ to be at the center of our lives and following His plan for us will bring "peace in this life and eternal life in the world to come."

How I live my faith

I teach a children's Sunday School class every week and recently we had a lesson on remembering Christ both on Sundays and everyday of the week. I learned so much from teaching this lesson about what it means to live my faith. When I think of living my faith in Christ, the first things that come to mind are the things I do on Sundays, like going to church. But, following Christ is also an everyday activity. I know I'm not perfect, but as I try to show love, to serve, to be a friend, I have felt His love grow in me and help me be better at doing these things.
