Hi I'm Joe

I have a beautiful wife and four children. We raise quail and rabbits in the Hill Country. I also like to play Minecraft.

About Me

My dad was an engineer that got jobs in different places. I was born in Oregon, but we also lived in Oklahoma, Texas, California, and Georgia. I went to most of high school in Eureka California, so I feel that Eureka is more home to where I grew up than anywhere else. I became an engineer like my dad and now I work making computer chips. I live in the Hill Country and enjoy raising animals and blacksmithing as a hobby. I think my favorite animal so far is my quail. They are still small, but my wife really likes quail eggs. I like to read a lot and occasionally game online. I suppose that I like Minecraft because I like to build stuff.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad was a convert to the church and my mother was born in the faith. So, I was raised in the church, but I still had to learn for myself that it is true. I read the Book of Mormon the first time before I turned twelve when my dad promised me a rib-eye dinner at a local restaurant if I finished it before my birthday. I remember reading it the first time gave me a special feeling and I felt that I gained a better understanding about a lot in life and in the church. After that I kept reading the book until I stopped counting at 40 times. Every time I read the scriptures I learn something new. It changed my life and gave me an advantage as I grew up since it made it easier for me to live according to Christian principles. As I have continued to study and pray I have gained a stronger and stronger witness as to the truth of the gospel contained in the scriptures. I attribute the good things that I have in my life to the influence of the Holy Ghost and the mercy of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

While I have my up and down days, I try to be a good example to my children and a loving husband to my wife. When I think about my own life I realize how very important it is for my children to be brought up in a loving home and be well grounded in the faith of Jesus Christ. I have accepted different callings in the church at different times, but I have found that teaching is the most rewarding calling that I have participated in. I have enjoyed talking to youth about having faith in Jesus Christ and how we may return to Him. I have especially enjoyed teaching my fellow bretheren during our priesthood meetings. Holding the priesthood is a wonderful blessing since I enjoy the support and comradery that comes with serving my fellows.
