Hi I'm Stephen Hankerson aka Steve

I was born and raised in Arizona, but have lived in many cities throughout the United States. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of five wonderful children and have been married for 24 years now, as of 2011. I am a software developer and have been for 21 years now. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor in Computer Information Systems and have been programing ever since. I like racquet ball, fishing and anything that involves the woods and the outdoors. My relationship with God is my number one priority and has brought my much joy and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a staunch Catholic and was so for the first 19 years of my life. When I was 19, I was exposed to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by a wonderful and faithful member of the church. Believe it or not, I had never heard of Mormons until then, and when I told others I knew someone who was a Mormon, I was emphatically warned about the false teachings of the church. However, I was invited to take the missionary lessons and even thought I was fed a ton of miss information before each lesson, I just felt at peace and felt that what they were teaching me made so much sense to me. I am a very logical person, it the precepts being taught were very logical to me. With each lesson, I was told not to take their word on it, but ask my Heavenly Father in prayer if what they were teaching was true. In time I did pray about it, and there was no mistaking the answer I received. I joined the church and have never looked back. It has been one of the greatest blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have the wonderful opportunity to serve in the church. It is such a blessing to visit assigned families each month in what is called home teaching. I visit them with my son, give them a spiritual thought and build a friendship that will last a lifetime. I love the families we visit and consider it such a blessing to perform this little service for my Heavenly Father. In addition, I have had numerous callings in the church. A calling is the opportunity to serve in any capacity the Lord has need of you to serve in. Whether it is teaching the young children, the teenagers or the adults, the blessing and the Sprit that is felt as that teacher is great. I have also served as a secretary to the bishop, someone who handles the finances, and someone who leads a quorum of men in the ward. Whether it is serving the little children or serving in the library, it is a great blessing the server the Lord.
